natatatt
I've been on Latuda 20 mg for about 3 weeks, so not long at all. How long should one stay on a specific atypical antipsychotic without considerable or noticeable positive change, before trying something new (assuming there are no unacceptable side-effects)? Thanks.
jt07
I guess some of it depends on what you are taking it for. I take Abilify for depression, and it took a month to kick in for me.
natatatt
I am taking it for bipolar 2 but I also have anxiety and ocd.
hagar
Should help any mania or psychotic symptoms fairly quickly, within a few days/a week, or at least that has been my experience.
natatatt
Well I'm still not functioning in any way, so I guess it's either time to try a higher dose or try something else.
netsavy006
Some may see changes in one or two weeks. Other's may need more time like 4 to 6 weeks. Give it at least a month to give you and your body time to adjust to the medication before making a decision. (absent distressing side effects). CeremonyNewOrder
20 mg is a very low dose. The highest you can go on Latuda is 120 mg so I would try an increase. I've heard with AAP you should start seeing some results within a couple of days.
Parapluie
It took Abilify three days flat to kick in and quash my depression, but i needed a higher dose to quash my psychosis too. It could be that you need to wait a little longer or you need a higher dose. Certainly something to talk to your pdoc about. You are on quite a low dose of Latuda. mellifluous
for me it depends on which one it is i agree with the others that note your dose is low and you could ask about increasing
natatatt
I am talking with my pdoc tomorrow. The plan was to increase, so I think we will be doing that. I'm just worried because someone on here said going from 20mg to 40mg of Latuda actually made things worse, but I suppose everyone is different and it's unlikely I'll react that way because one person on this website said that. Thanks for your support guys. I don't know where I'd be without this place.
melissaw72
It took Abilify 7 weeks almost to the day to kick in. It helped some in the beginning few weeks, but I felt so much better after the 7 weeks. I know you aren't on Abilify, but I guess what I'm saying is that I would give any med up to 2 months before deciding whether or not it is really helping or not. InnovatingProfessor²
Some persons need 2 weeks to kick it in the brain other 2 months. But normally it should work about around 6 weeks... // Edit: I made a mistake.. 6 months must be 6 weeks... San
Moving this to Antipsychotics, you'll get more responses there.
forgetmenot220
Abilify worked within days for, depending on how badly my depression had hit, at most it took a week to fully wipe it out. Saphris and Haldol took only a week or so to notice effects, risperdal never really did shit for me, neither did latuda.
