I don't know the repercussions, but I know the Governor planned to step in.
fantod
YEAH! How many states do we have left? After Iowa and UTAH!!!! they should be tripping over themselves to invite me there to spend lots of money and marry my imaginary girlfriend. LikeMinded
I don't know if former Gov. Huntsman's legacy (he was quite the progressive-conservative) led to this, but I think he'd be happy about this. I'm genuinely happy for gays who live in that state, and hope that my state (Indiana) follows for the sake of my gay friends and civil rights in general!!! Hope Huntsman, who supported civil unions with full marriage rights for gay couples, gets the RNC's nomination for 2016. Only hope those crazies have. hagar
And New Mexico, too, right? Fuck yeah. Didn't know you had it in you, Utah.
hagar
and hope that my state (Indiana) follows for the sake of my gay friends and civil rights in general!!! I hope Indiana does too! If I ever do want to get married, it would be much easier to drive across the Ohio instead of going several states away. I don't see my state (KY) legalizing it anytime within the next decade. But you never know, I guess. Look at Utah.
CrankyMe
hagar, I really don't want to burst your bubble, but Utah didn't decide to legalize gay marriage; the supreme court decided for them. They made anti-gay marriage laws, and the court said that was unconstitutional, which made gay marriage de facto legal there.

Emettman
BBC News item http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-25473600 Including this detail: "Among the dozens of same-sex couples lined up to get marriage licences at the Salt Lake County clerk's office was State Senator Jim Dabakis. The chairman of the state's Democratic party, was there with his longtime partner, Stephen Justesen." Chris.
crtclms
hagar, I really don't want to burst your bubble, but Utah didn't decide to legalize gay marriage; the supreme court decided for them. But the fact that this was a federal decision, based on federal law, actually *should* speed up marriage equality, since it won't have to be state by state.
