A semi-short introduction

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am 40, and I have multiple diagnoses. I have been in and out of therapy since I was 13, and on and off meds most of that time as well. I suffer from schizoaffective disorder, PTSD, OCD, anxiety, insomnia, migraines, and I am terrified of mirrors. (Have been since I was a kid, actually.) I am happily married to a bi-polar guy for the past 21 years, and I have a 20-year old daughter who is also bi-polar and epileptic. I was molested at age 4, raped at ages 9-12, 15, and 23. I am currently only on Risperdal 3mg, Lamictal 25mg, Cymbalta 30mg, and Klonopin .5mg. I just got new insurance, and can no longer afford my Pdoc and Tdoc appointments, or my meds. I am unsure as to what to do now. I thought maybe someone here would have some advice. I live near Buffalo, NY, so, at this point, I'm stumped.

Thanks for your time.

Welcome, halfbreed. Good to have you here. You've certainly been through a whole lot.

I'm sorry you can't afford your treatment anymore- are there any local community mental health centers in or near Buffalo? I would suggest looking for one, especially if you're living on a low income, because most of them have sliding scale fees. That is how I get treatment- I see a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a therapist/counselor for around $7 per visit. I also get my non-generic meds through a patient assistance program ran through Johnson & Johnson; my other meds are generic and pretty cheap, thankfully.

I hope you can find some help for your situation.

Welcome to Crazyboards.  I ask all new members to read the User Agreement, just so you understand how we operate.

I think Hagar gave you some good advice, and I hope there are some mental health clinics with sliding scale fees in your area.

Please let us know if we can help you in any way.
