It's a well-known side effect. Sometimes it helps to shift to taking the Abilify in the morning. In my case, I take Remeron which is a highly sedating antidepressant so I don't suffer from insomnia too badly.

I DO take it in the morning... stupid med

I think it's backwards- once I take it ikinda zaps my energy I *think*

But by night I am awake. Might switch it.

Even though I am hating the side effects to this med I want to see if I can keep it so have to try and make it work

Abilify gave me severe insomnia and in a week I went manic so I obviously had to stop it. Be careful. Tell your pdoc what is going on.

This happened to me too. It can be very activating.

I think you should talk to your Pdoc because personally lack of sleep brings on symptoms for me.

Good luck!

I have to take Seroquel with Abilify or else I can't sleep. It's not just activating, it's absolutely wiring, even 18h later. I spent many a night with 2-3h of sleep because of Abilify. Not a single sleep med worked (H1 or GABA), only Seroquel. I can sympathize with dumping that drug, I've stopped and started it 3 times now.
