l'appel du vide
It seems like the 3 weeks I've been on 20mg prozac I have had non stop nausea. Just 2 days ago I got food poisoning, and 2 weeks before that I had the flu. I'm thinking those 2 things combined may have increased the nausea by a lot...but I don't know I'm just being paranoid I guess? Is it possible for prozac side effects to last this long and if it is, is it normal? I see my psych doc in a week and I don't want to get switched to another AD just because I word everything wrong. What do you all think?
fya13
I've never taken prozac, however, all ssri meds have the potential to cause gi distress. Sometimes it goes away as you adjust to the med, and sometimes it doesn't. Some people will swich to another med, some people can get meds to help ease the side effects like anti nausea meds. melissaw72
I've never had the problem being on Prozac. Maybe the GI problems are residual from the food poisoning and the flu, and will go away soon on their own. I would bring it up with your pdoc though. I would tell him/her everything you wrote in this post. If the nausea doesn't go away, maybe pdoc can prescribe an anti-nausea med. I currently take Zofran as needed for nausea. mcjimjam
I had nausea the first few days on Prozac, then it went away. I do think it's possible for it to last longer, for some people. 3 weeks isn't a long time. I hope you feel better soon!
