Cedar
We're adding buspar to my cocktail for anxiety. My podcast said that it might make me tired at first but that I should adjust. Anyone have any experience with it?
jt07
I took it at two different times in my life, but it didn't help me at all. All it did was make me dizzy. YMMV Edit: From what I gather around the internet, it is one of those meds that either works for you or does absolutely nothing for you. Unfortunately, I was in the latter category. iamnotafish
I started Buspar, the second time around, about six weeks ago, 15mg twice a day. I take one in the morning and one at night. The first week I started, I felt really, really weird. I did not sleep well at all and had nightmares almost every night. I went down to 10mg twice a day for a week and then went back up to 15mg twice a day again after. Other than feeling really weird that first week and with the nightmares, I haven't noticed any major fatigue. I honestly don't feel a difference at all now, especially with my anxiety. But as jt07 said, it really is hit or miss for some people. Hope it works for you.

wadjet
I started on buspar a few months ago. I now take 15 mg 3 times a day. It has really helped with the anxiety, I can now drive places by myself! I haven't had any side effects.
CirclesOfConfusion
I just had buspar added to my other meds about 3 weeks ago. I've had brain zaps for a couple hours after every dose, but not nearly as bad as when I had SSRI discontinuation brain zaps. No vertigo or nausea this time. I can't quite tell if it is actually helping or if this latest episode of anxiety and depression has just finally run its course on its own. Butterflykisses
I took Buspar for about 1.5 months and was not impressed. It was prescribed to try to ease my OCD, but didn't and I had to resort to an AD which has worked wonders.
Stickler
I'm currently on the maximum therapeutic dose. It boosts the SSRI and lowers my anxiety...I've liked it so far. The only really notable side effect was...erm...mudbutt. This on startup. My mom tried it, and she got the opposite effect-constipation. Go figure. (Note that I need a medication reboot, at this point, so what comes next I don't know.)
Cedar
Just an update - it's been about 3 weeks, and I think it's helping. It's subtle, but I am feeling less anxious. As far as I can tell, no real side effects.
quiet storm
Got an appt next week and thought about asking about buspar. Seems like a low risk option. At worst it just doesn't work.

Yeah, I have an appointment in a few weeks and am thinking of asking for Buspar for the same reasons.
PseudoLucky_Peach
I gave it two months, but after negligible benefits, and the negative effects of weight gain and brain zaps, I switched to an SSRI. I agree with the above-- it synchs with your chemistry, or it doesn't. This drug class doesn't seem to have a very solid middle ground.
