I notice about an hour or 2 after I take my Latuda at night, this wave of intense and terrifying anxiety and restless agitation washes over me to where I feel like I am dying or need to die for relief. Has anyone else had this or heard of this with Latuda? I am scared.

when i took latuda it did nothing for me, good or bad. i was already on cogentin though so no akathisia from it specifically, but it could be that as lark said.

however, i remember forgetmenot had a thread and found it: http://www.crazyboards.org/forums/index.php/topic/66206-latudai-think-i-hate-it/

maybe check in with her as well.  best to you x

EDIT: if it is akathisia i take propranolol and it works well for it

I get the anxiety too right after I take it. I take 1mg of lorazepam w the Latuda to combat that.. I'm fine during the day. I take my meds right before bed.

It could be akathesia too. I got it bad one night. Wanted to curl up and die. Nothing can help me in those situations.

No one should deserve to feel that way after taking a medicine.  Medicine should help you feel better not feel like you are dying.  That is why I quit Latuda because I am not going to feel depressed because of it.

I'm going to repeat what a few other members have already stated in that it might be akathisia and you should call your pdoc. I had a similar reaction when I went up on my Latuda dose as well but it went away with time. I took some Klonopin to help calm me down in the meantime.

Hopefully you can get some relief soon.

Since I've increased my Seroquel XR dose to 150 mg, I notice I have increased anxiety, sometimes severe. I also feel like I have an extreme overload of energy in my body 24/7, like I took a lot of energy drinks, and this is bothersome for me. I started taking .5 mg clonazepam three times a day (instead of twice a day) to for this. I don't know if this "energy overload" feeling is akathasia or what. I did email my psy NP about it, because my body is always tired. I just increased the dose 5 days ago.

I also started taking Benadryl 25 mg (1 pill) to help ease this feeling, and I think it helps. I take 2- 3 pills/day.

Hi, I"m so glad I found you. I've been taking Latuda at night but it takes me two hours to calm down and fall asleep. I go into a deep sleep for an hour or two then wake up feeling better. I experience panic and dread after taking it. I take it after a high calorie meal. It doesn't make me fall asleep right away. 60 mg is dose. Should i take it in 3 doses through the day? 20, 20 and 20? The feelings are scary and from reading posts above, I'm not alone. Thank you. Or should I just not take it anymore. I won't be able to talk to my PDOC until first week of December. It's getting through those 2 hours before I can fall asleep. Daytime is better..I can fall asleep faster..it's so weird. I also take 300 mg of Lamictal and 2 mg of Klonopin. Maybe I should take 2 mg of Klonopin right after Latuda? 2 hours after I get a heavy tired feeling but I get nervous if I get too tired. Sorry if this is confusing. Thanks!

I can't answer as to the best way for you to take the Latuda given your problems with it, but I definitely think you should NOT quit taking it without first talking to your pdoc. Can you reach your pdoc by phone before your appointment? Otherwise you could perhaps ask your pharmacist the best way to take it to avoid the worst of the dread and anxiety.

I've been experiencing terrible panic attacks with lots of lock-jaw and muscle spasms after my doc upped me to 120mgs of latuda. They've been happening so frequently I decided to look up other people's experiences which led me to create this account. I've also found these symptoms which I've been experiencing. http://www.drugs.com/sfx/latuda-side-effects.html Nothing like a painful hour long panic attack that they only gave me valium to counteract. Glad to see that I'm not alone, I'm halving my dose immediately.

I wouldn't say I get panic attacks, but I definitely get restless agitation from it an hour or two after taking it. My solution is to literally take it right before bed (which means I got to bed very early due to the caloric requirement of basically taking it with dinner) and I also take it with my evening lithium. Something in this mix tends to help knock me out -- haven't used my sleeping meds much lately.

I've tried taking it in the morning (back when I was IP in Feb/Mar) but switched to the evening due to its hypnotic effect on me.

At the risk of sounding like a doctor -- you are taking it with 350-calories to ensure you really are getting your full dose? I know it's a challenge to do this, but it's important for Latuda to metabolize -- it's not to stop your tummy getting upset etc.

Except when it is early in treatment. Even awful side effects may go away in a couple of weeks.

It took me 5 weeks to figure it out. I thought I was having panic attacks as a result of some sort of psychological trigger but no. 1-2 hours after taking Latuda, a wave of intense fear struck me. My chest would get tingly with pins and needles. I would become sensitive to everything and everyone around me. I would freeze up. No amount of xanax or clonopin would relieve it. Occassionally I would drink myself to the point of passing out. Like I said, it took 5 weeks for my pdoc to figure out what was going on. I hope whoever is reading this doesn't have to suffer for that long. I usually don't sign up for websites once I've fohnd the solution but this time I had to. 3 hour panic attacks change a person... especially nightly ones.

Hi everyone, so I've been on Latuda 40mg since November of 2016 and it was fine. I was feeling like myself however, once my dog passed away in December, I was full of anxiety. As I continued with Latuda, I noticed I was extremely anxious, up to nonfunctional. So I stopped taking Latuda. As time had passed, I started up again thinking I was done being anxious about my dog's death and I continue to feel extreme anxiety an hour or two after taking Latuda. It's comforting to read that other people have experienced this as well. I was wondering if you guys take Latuda with an anxiety medication, if that has helped reduce the anxiety that occurs with Latuda? I have an appointment with my doctor in two weeks and I would like to bring it up as an option.

I have been on Latuda for coming on two years, and they say that new side effects and can out of nowhere. When I take my Latuda I get terrible anxiety, just dread and feeling like I cannot do anything, but lay down. I usually sleep for a few hours and wake up feeling better, but this has got to stop. I am convinced that it is the Latuda because I get the anxiety within a couple of hours after taking Latuda. And I am telling you, it is CRIPPLING. I would also say to the point of being nonfunctional.ttelling Taking Klonopin with Latuda does not seem to help at all.

happened to me but unfortunately i didnt put 2 and 2 together until recently. so i was dx with panic disorder because the latuda made me sleepy but panicky . i lived with this for 3 years until finally after doing some research i found that this happens to others and made the connection bw panic and latuda. so i told my doc and he gave me cogentin and lowere the latuda. it has been life changing. i used to dread going to bed because of the panic and restlessness- xanax kpin and benadryl didnt help.

like you, that awful feeling would happen an hour or two after taking. the panic can be attributed to what is called akathesia. talk to your pdoc.
