cte1866
Hi all, I'm new to this site but wanted to let you know that I'm starting on a new drug on the market called Brintellix. It's mostly marketed for MDD but has been found to help with GAD. I have GAD (among other issues) and my doc was excited about this drug and wanted me to try it. I just started today and will post my journey with it. I've been onl all sorts of other SRI drugs but I cannot seem to tolerate them. I'm hoping this will be the drug for me. Unstrung Harp
Good luck. I've been taking it for three weeks for depression and anxiety. My anxiety does seem to be better, though I am also titrating down on a med that seemed to make my anxiety worse (nortiptyline), so it's hard to say. But I'm cautiously optimistic. I hope it helps with your anxiety.
cte1866
I'm on day three and not so sure anything is really happening. I'm feeling a lot of anxiety this morning due to a project from hell I'm working on. I have a meeting with all the players in a couple of hours and feel my anxiety going up considerably. So took a half a tablet of Clonazepam to keep an even keel. I'm hoping by the end of the week I feel something more substantial. From what I've seen people have been reporting more energy and uplifting mood with this drug. I haven't felt any of this yet. We'll see.
crtclms
Hi, I'm moving this thread to anti-depressants. More people should see it there than in this forum.
ReallyWhatNext
Hi.... I was just given a script for Brintellix. I took the week's worth of samples and got my prescript today. Soooo expensive even with insurance but had a discount card from my doctor. Anyway, I'm not sure if it's actually helping me yet, I have Major Depressive Disorder and no meds have ever helped me. I'm still miserable, sad, no desires, no dreams, no wishes, no nothing for the past 3 years now. I wasn't able to leave my house, let alone work for over a year. I have just started working again in Decembr 2013... I've suffered from some degree of depression as long as I can remember, even as a child and I am now 54. Although some better, I still just basically exist. My doctor also gave me Seroquel which I have taken before but I am a little leery taking it with this new drug. There isn't a lot of info out there about Brintellix so I'm taking it one day at a time. I work for a doctor's office and we currently only have one patient on this med. I am the first to be prescribed it by my doctor. I also take Xanax which I personally feel has saved my life. The anxiety is something that I haven't been able to get a grasp on. But I do not take it regularly as getting a script from my doctor is like going thru the freaking Pentagon. :-) I pray Brintellix helps me as it would be nice to live again... I will follow this thread to see if it actually helps others. Just my input... And I pray for all of us who are suffering from any sort of depression, mental illness, anxiety...etc... If u haven't been there, u have no clue... thx...
whisperingwildflower
Is anyone still taking Brintellix? How is it going for you? I've been on it for about a month and am upping it to 20mg today. I'm having really awful morning anxiety and thought it would've been helping by now.
missygail66
Hi, I've just started Brintellix tonight. I have taken celexa which worked well for over a year, then Lexapro and Viibryd which were both very activating. It seems this sort of works like Viibryd, so I am pretty skeptical, but fingers crossed...

I'm thinking of trying that next if my anxiety on brintellix doesn't get better. Ugh, this is exhausting
missygail66
whisperingwildflower, I was on Celexa for 18 months and it did fairly well, I could sleep, neg thoughts went away, etc. It stopped working, and tried the Lexapro, but I was too activated-irritable, racing thoughts, etc. So, tried viibryd for 7 months with Nuvigil as adjunct, but was activating, too, and could not tolerate it above 20mg. Its possible I should have just increased Celexa dose, but was not seeing a pdoc at that time, just my pcp and therapist. I was on 20mg when I switched. How long have you been taking viibryd? I had terrible nightmares/sleep paralysis for the first couple of weeks, but then that went away. Good luck, hope you find what works.

It definitely lifted my mood and gave me motivation, but the nightmares never got better for me. That topped with the increased agitation was just not worth it, especially because being irritated is part of my depression/anxiety in the first place. I also felt like the mood-lifting effects started to dwindle toward the end, and my psych revealed that he's had that experience with a number of his patients. How are you feeling today? It's my second day at 20mg and I feel just so-so. Kind of sleepy but simultaneously on edge. Also, I keep reading about people gaining weight on celexa, and while I know it's not the end of the world, I really don't want to feel bad about myself physically. Did you experience weight gain at all while on the med?

I never gained any weight on celexa and I was on it for 18 months.
