Pics of Your Pets

Maybe we can all share pictures of our special friends and their cute little quirks and how they help us in whatever way. I think this is good stuff and yeah. Even if don't have a pet, maybe a picture of a pet you would like and why? :)

I'll start :3

This is my male rat. I changed his name from Pink to Lucifer after my friend convinced me to name him after her. And I do think the name fits.

Here is a photo of him sitting pretty on my shoulder

tumblr_n0q5jpFENe1rqckf4o1_500.jpg

He's pretty lazy. Likes to sit and clean himself on my shoulder. And then have a nap in my hood. He came alone because he doesn't get along with other boys. He even bit my boyfriend hard enough to draw blood! I got him to replace my dog (can't have one in the apartment I was moved into). He makes me get out of bed to fill up his water and feed him and take him out. And when I feel all mixed up and weird all I do is take him and put him on my shoulder and he distracts me by being all cute and such.

Your turn now, guys :3

Stuart Verdell (Stuart was a name I liked while reading Anne Rice and Verdell from the dog in As Good As It Gets)

I got him when I was around 15 or 16 making him almost 11 or 12 now. He doesn't like to discuss his age though, so I wouldn't bring it up. He is scared of everything and I think his anxiety is on the same level as mine. Plus, it can't be easy being small. As he's aged his eyesight is going as well as his hearing, but he's still my baby. I call him my lil old man. He helped me through my depression as a teenager and although he's grown more attached to my dad (my dad being the Alpha dog in Stuart's eyes), he will still come to me more so than anybody, especially if other people are trying to get his attention. I love him.

Love this!  I don't seem to have authorization to upload pictures: I tried to follow the image upload instructions, but I don't seem to have the upload function.  :(  Maybe I'm too new, or just technologically backward?  Anyway, I have two super cute cats.  I enjoyed everyone else's photos!

I haven't used the upload feature on the site, but I did upload the picture to photobucket and then select the little picture/image icon on here and copy the link from photobucket into it and was able to post my picture that way. Kind of more work but hopefully someone else will chime in with an easier way. :)

I am not sure there is enough bandwidth to post pictures of all of them...but a few are:

Pearl, the blond and Jack, the redhead. Pearl was rescued as an 'old bitch' from a breeder. Jack came out of a horrific hoarding situation.

pearljack_zps1a721037.jpg

Shortie, I inherited her from my dear sister---her other name is Sweet Pea...

after_zpsa46b6d31.jpg

Lily, keeping the coyotes and road runners at bay:

howlingLily_zpsf47a01ca.jpg

And last in this photo roundup, but certainly not in my heart, is Polly Pop-up, rescued from an abusive, cruel, and sad environment.

Thanks imnfish, I had tried shutterfly first but it didn't seem to work. Here goes!

This is Chloe.  She is 17 and likes to nap in the hamper.

UpsideDownMax_zps4a0f2d51.jpg

This is Max.  He is 9 and enjoys hanging around upside down.  I call him my cow cat because of his coloring.

I love cow cats. :)

Indigo, I forgot how much personality your herd has.

This is my golden retriever service and therapy dog, Nugget. She is 7, will turn 8 in March. She's goofy and has opinions, and she's so adorable sometimes I just have to kiss her.

med_gallery_4472_287_1059059.jpg

This is our cat, Edie. She showed up at the women's shelter I used to work at. We refer to her as "the cat of unknown origins" since we don't know where she came from or how old she is. One of the shelter workers adopted her. That worker moved to Hawaii, and Edie needed a permanent home. Mr W and I have been her staff since 2005. I suspect Edie was framed in this otherwise incriminating photo of the manatee losing its stuffing:

We have two dogs.

Oldest is Joey, we're not sure how old he really is but we think he's about 6 or so. He was a rescue dog from a mean household. He's come a long way since we got him, he used to be terrified of absolutely everything.

IMAG0314_1_zpsorylwv6d.jpg

And youngest is Haydn, who's less than a year old still and is just a puppy.

Look like fish to me. Maybe koi, but at least gold fish.

lol. you're right.  now I see the fish.  heh.

This guy is in my avatar, but I am happy to put up another one:

olga-7_zps117d9d20.jpg

His name is Finley, and he was rescued from an owner who was starving him.  He came to us over 8 years ago and is now almost 11.

Then there is my pretty girl:

P5290102_zpsf75258be.jpg

She has the very unoriginal name "Miss Kitty" and is a sweet lap-cat who is also an enthusiastic mouser.

I have 50-55 chickens but I won't put all of them up.  Check my blog now and then and there will be chix pix.

I love seeing all the other animals!

Yay for pet pics!

1901177_718267871524798_1364902403_n_zps

This is my girl Ria. When we got her as a tiny puppy I was the one who looked after her the most in the first week. So I kind of became her favourite. (She's still a puppy really, she's only 8 months old.) I'm away at uni now and I miss her lots.

She is half cavalier king charles spaniel and half bichon frise. I suspect that she is not the brightest pup but she is the best cuddler.

More pictures of Spike

My dog likes to watch tv.  This is him watching Downton Abbey.

This is him in one of my wife's blouses.  I forgot why we did that.  Poor guy.

When we come home, Spike gets excited and brings us his favorite toys, sometimes up to three or four of them at a time.

I'm so glad to see pictures of Spike, koakua.  I  love the picture with one ear up and one ear down.  heh

I think Hoover is my fave of all the little pups rescued by Indigo.  He's so floofy!

I'm enjoying this thread, too. miab, I think the gray and white cat is just SO nonchalant in that shot!  la la la---take my picture 'cause I'm handsome....

So, has Spike had the appropriate career advice for how to use his art history qualification? :)

Hagar, your kitty is beautiful - I just want to scratch that tummy, even though I have the scars on my hand to show what happens when I "just scratch that tummy" on my three!

This is my six year old girl, Miracle Maxine, known as Max or Smacky for short. We call her Smacky because she tends to be, ah, excitable. I rescued her out from under a dumpster when she was about four weeks old. She is the darling of my heart. She saved my life, no lie.

gallery_10045_291_25428.jpg

And this is my two year old marmalade boy, Luigi (we call him Wee Weegie, because, though he's grown into a huge living scarf, he is the youngest), with my sister's big guy, Oxnard (also known as Mr. Hollywood, for his megawatt smile). These two gents are both shelter rescues, clearly both standoffish and not at all cuddly.

Oh Mim, Smacky is adorable! They both look like total sweethearts.

^_^ I'll tell them you said so. Smacky-cat never gets tired of being told she's pretty, haha.

Luigi is the sweetest cat I've ever met. He'll follow me around, waiting patiently for me to sit so he can get up in my lap and get hugs.

Mim, your cats are truly gorgeous!  I understand when you say Smacky saved your life.  My Rosie (who was rescued from a gutter when just a few weeks old) came into my life when I was stuck in a wheelchair with a broken hip and had just started a severely upsetting and distressing divorce.  She would lie next to me in bed and let me hold her paw (literally) while I alternately cried and lay in a deeply depressed stupor.  Having her to care for helped me crawl out of the pit.  And she still permits me to hold her paw when I feel the need - she's the only cat I've known who does that.

Thank you :)! That's my Chico...and yes, miab, I have similar scars. He may look sweet and docile, but don't be fooled. He's a wildcat in a fluffy little package. I wouldn't have him any other way though.

I don't believe it when people say cats are aloof and don't feel love or loyalty. Baloney. Stories like yours are proof that's false, I think. It's sweet that she "holds hands" with you. Smacky likes to sit on my shoulder, or hog the pillow, and wash my hair, haha. It's hard to give in to even horrible depression when the cat is under the bed banging around with her toys, yelling up at me to come play with her. Even a lump can get out the laser pointer!

Oh Mel, Newton is stunning. What a face!

Also, pet rats FTW. My brother and his wife had one named Mrs. Frisby (not terribly original, admittedly, but she was a rescue and came named), who was affectionate, impeccably behaved and fun to play with. She died of old age a couple years ago, sadly. They're underrated companions.

Aww, everyone has such beautiful and adorable pets!

This is my super villain guinea pig Skrinkle. He likes carrots, and if he doesn't get them, he kills. :P I kid. I like to make stories of what goes on in his mind, so we decided to make him an evil villlain, trapped in his cage, doing life. I take him out and snuggle him, he likes to suck on my finger. I did a photoshoot with him one day. He's a Peruvian guinea pig, in Peru they are considered a "delicacy". Someone asked if I was going to eat him! I would never eat my pig, and he's to fluffy. He's such a good pet. He makes little WHEEK WHEEK noises, but not very often. If you whistle, he coos, and runs around, and flips his hut over.

My landlord saw him and goes "What is that?! It's so furry!" I said "Oh, that's Skrinkle, my guinea pig" and he came in and saw him. My one roommate, whose moved out, had never seen a guinea pig before. She would ask how my bunny was doing. :) She was a bit confused when she saw him. "He doesn't look like a bunny!" and her fiancée said "Oh, that's because he's a guinea pig!" and she was like "What are those?" "That!" It was soo funny and cute. She liked to pet him though because he's soft.

The "wheek wheek" noises are SO cool. Guinea pigs rock. They're so affectionate and cute. My brother's pig likes to curl up under your neck and nibble your chin.

Skrinkle is adorable. I love the long, floofy hair! :D

Thanks everyone. Skrinkle was watching and if he didn't get good comments, he was going to take over the world and start with me, so I'm glad everyone likes him. He's chaotic evil. Never know what he's gonna do next..

I can totally video him one day and someone get him riled up and running around making noise.. hehe. Not sure how... I don't want to be mean. That would be cute though. Sometimes when I open the fridge in my room and he doesn't get a carrot he'll run around and WHEEK.

I'm currently out of carrots. I must go apologize to the guinea pig, my ruler. See why he's in a cage?!

:D

He's such an awesome puff ball. He can detect evil. He cuddles with me, and pretty much everyone. My old roommate, going back a year and a half, wanted to hold him, and I let her, and he bit her, hard. She fucked me over in the end. He has good taste of character. If they're bad people, he bites 'em. He's only bit her...

Newton is beautiful. I bet you have to brush him often. Beautiful fur and eyes and colours, I want to snuggle him!

Aww look at Polly Pop-up. Such a cutie pie, look at that personality radiating in the picture. "I like to play!"

Aha! I knew someone would get socks for Christmas!

20131226_091103.jpg?m=1388109414

I had to trade him a piece of cheese for that sock. My dad was happy he got his new sock back, though.

Smart-ass dog. He trained us well. He's so cute, and everyone loves Max!

That picture of Polly Pop-up is adorable! What a great little dog! I'm not even a dog person, but that made me laugh out loud.

Mel, I'll say again, Newton is beautiful. I love the expression on his face in the second photo.

EDIT: I cannot resist...here's a picture of my Luigi as a baby. This was the day after I adopted him. I don't wonder why I couldn't leave without him, even though I wasn't even there to adopt a pet, but was with someone else who was adopting.

Indigo, did you take that picture of the last picture you posted?  That is really neat!  If so, how did you get the white background?

I did! If i post a photo taken by someone else or from google I always make note of the source.

I used a long lens in a close up focus and the background blurred out to white: I should note that Pip was stationary and the background was static. It does not always work for me, I am a novice with a digital camera, but when it does I like it.

This is Big Sis herding goats, I did not use the long lens for this one as there was too much activity, thus the brush in the background is apparent...

This is Sampson (the Saint Bernard) and Stuart (my Yorkie). I know this is happy thread, but unfortunately Sampson is no longer with us. He was truly the sweetest, biggest, dumb (and I mean this truly affectionately) dog ever. If you were laying on the couch, he would come sit next to you and lay his head on your lap. He loved, loved, loved sitting in the swimming pool. We called him our water buffalo during the summer. And in the winter he would just lay in the snow and eat chunks of it. He is definitely missed. Stuart is still doing well and even fell asleep in my arms last night for the first time ever. <3

This is Pete. He is technically now my ex's dog, but really he's mine considering I picked him out, paid for his expenses, and took care of him for two years. But I can't have a dog like that in my apartment, so now he lives with my ex. I miss Pete more than him, honestly.
