Switching from smoking-vaping and med absorbtion?

Recommended Posts

I've been vaping for about 3 months after smoking my whole MI career.

I have noticed a difference in the lead up to med time. Hard to pin point, but mood slumps a little, I crave higher nicotine juices, and just don't feel right.

I've only recently made this connection

I see pdoc on Monday, but he doesn't have any knowledge of vaping. Seeing my gear was the first time he had heard of it.

I was just wondering if anyone has had to do something like adjust from taking meds at night, to half AM, half PM, or tweak doses etc.

I'm not in a bad place, just not optimised, if that makes sense.

I don't know if this applies to any of the meds you're on, but there's a fairly authoritative study showing that nicotine interferes with the efficacy of and decreases the half-life of Zyprexa. There are warnings that if you decrease or quit smoking, you may need to change the dosage on the Zyprexa as well. Since nicotine works on dopamine receptors, it would make sense it could change the way other AAPs like Risperdal work as well, and result in you needing to adjust your dosages when you quit. Whether you're vaping or smoking isn't what really makes the difference--it's whether you're imbibing nicotine.
