Probably not, yet why stop taking this medication? Have you discussed these med changes with your Pdoc?

If I remember correctly, you recently did a rapid discontinuation or fluoxetine as you had read some negative reviews at a non-credible web site.

You seem hell bent on becoming unstable. Why?

how long have you been taking it, and why did you go on medication in the first place ? what happened... ? sorry-big questions to answer.

I been taking it for 5 months. I was on it bechause i had delusions what my pdoc calls phsychosis. I was hospitalized in phsyckriatic hospital until i took my medications again.

when i go off my medications cold turkey, scary things happen. will you wait, and talk ?

if it's not the right medication, why is that... if it helps you stay out of the hospital ?

are there other side effects you don't like ?

if there's a better medication, and going off abilify so quickly could re-set you to a place where you need to go back to the hospital, why risk it ? just wait to have an appointment with your doctor and discuss your feelings.

they can talk with you - your doctor(s) - and help you find something that suits you better, possibly.

it sounds like if you've been on it this long and you are feeling good (no delusions), that it could be a risk i wouldn't personally be willing to take if i were in your place, after what i know now.

i remember feeling well after my medications were working for me, going off, and things getting really out there... again.

(sorry i usually have to edit. )

what is(are) your dx('s) ?

Do you desire to return to the psychiatric hospital?

I'm not trying to be blunt, but if you have been taking them for five months and just go off of them you may land yourself right back into a locked ward. Not a fun thing to do in my opinion. I'd rather take the meds. And the dose of abilify you are on is not very big. Talk to your pdoc and therapist and keep taking your meds!

You need to listen to your Pdoc; stay on your meds, and follow the directions of your team.

I am not afraid to repeat myself, you seem hell bent of making yourself unstable and being hospitalized again.

NO ONE here is able to offer you counsel, advice, or suggestions. Talk to you physicians.

You won't die. But your delusions will come back. And you will most likely end up back in the hospital if that happens, right? That would suck.

Staying on your meds is a very good idea, even if you don't think you are sick. They control symptoms. And one of your symptoms is delusions.

Abilify, and medicines like it, are also great at controlling some of the bothersome symptoms of Aspergers syndrome. So thats always a plus, too!

If you don't like Abilify, you can always ask your doctor to switch. Thats what he or she is there for  :)

  • 2 weeks later...

It won't kill you to stop abilify. The discontinuation syndrome is fairly easy to deal with, but all your symptoms coming back, well that's another story.

You'll probably end up in the hospital again, and if you keep dropping meds because you think you aren't sick (even though you're diagnosed with psychosis) they can put you on treatment orders so you have to take meds, which I've heard sucks. Stopping a med without a doctors permission is bad news.

And maybe you aren't sick right now because the medication is working? Strong possibility. Right now I'm pretty stable, and near baseline, but I know its the meds. If I stopped taking them, all hell would break loose.
