Czernobog
I've read that AAPs affect the way the body processes insulin, and causes weight gain because of that. I haven't put on weight with Risperdal, but I'm curious whether I'm still at risk for insulin resistance or other issues. Diabetes does run in my family, and I'd rather avoid it. Am I understanding this correctly? Edit: I've been on this for about a month, so I'm still trialing it. Edited March 8, 2014 by Czernobog
malachite
Diabetes runs in my family, too, after a certain age. But Abilify caused me to develop diabetes at age 33. I am working on lowering my blood sugars, but I'm pretty bitter.
San
That'd be a good question to ask your doc, and have included in your next set of blood work. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Czernobog
Diabetes runs in my family, too, after a certain age. But Abilify caused me to develop diabetes at age 33. I am working on lowering my blood sugars, but I'm pretty bitter. This is exactly what I'm afraid of. I'm already a laughably picky eater, and have trouble eating anywhere but at home. Diabetes would be hell for me on top of that. That'd be a good question to ask your doc, and have included in your next set of blood work. Sorry I can't be more helpful. I probably will; I have an appointment, just not until eighth of April. Thanks.
