Wooster
It can be really frustrating to feel like you aren't being listened to, especially when you're pretty darn sure you have an idea of what the solution is. Abilify is an atypical antipsychotic in the same family as slurroquel. Are you getting all the 'sleep hygiene' things under control that you possibly can? Things like limiting/eliminating caffeine and energy drinks after a certain time of day, having a bed time routine even if you aren't yet sleepy, making the bed be just for sleeping and/or sexy times, eliminating light in the bedroom, having white noise and cooler temps in the bedroom, turning off screens at least 1 hour before bed... Sometimes troubleshooting ALL those factors makes a difference for me. I hope you get some good rest soon. I know how aggravating it is to not be able to sleep. And it makes everything else worse. I wonder if your pdoc and mom are seeing the inability to sleep as a symptom caused by something else, rather than how you seem to be defining it as the primary problem. Wooster
So if you've tried sleep meds, I don't understand why you're mad that you didn't get prescribed a sleep med... unless you mean you've tried everything OTC. Is it time to think about a sleep study?

melissaw72
Can you ask your pdoc about a sleep study, and if s/he says yes, then maybe your pdoc can explain why you need one to your mom. Other than that can you get a second opinion? I know that is easier said than done but it might help in the long run.
