Pristiq ER--is it the culprit?

Recommended Posts

Today is the first time I have been on this forum, and I am happy to have found it.  Ever since 2008 when the p-doc I had then finally found the most helpful med combo, I have been completely exhausted and vegetable-like, but every time we tried to work on the Seroquel dosage, it was clear that I cannot go off it--the Seroquel and an adjustment of the airflow of my C-Pap are the things that have been attributed to my chronic fogginess and extreme fatigue/sleepiness.

However, I read somewhere on one of these threads--can't find it now--that a poster found that her extreme exhaustion and fatigue were due to Pristiq and that although tapering off it was an awful experience, now that she was on another med-Wellbutrin, I think--she felt better.

Has anybody else had the fatigue problem with Pristiq?  It would be nice to have that problem solved.  If so, other than Wellbutrin, what did you change to?  SSRI's put me into a prolonged and dangerous state of rapid cycling and suicidal ideation.

Thank you for your time!

I've been on Pristiq for a little over a week and can say YES. It definitely has caused extreme fatigue. I am not only tired, like I need to sleep tired, but I am also physically weak. I did not feel the way a little over a week ago before I started. I was depressed but not weak or tired.

I think I might be switching over to Wellbutrin myself because I have a history of ADs making my sleepy. I was on Celexa for 11 years and it started making me extremely tired after 7 years. Just found out it was the Celexa at the end of 2013!!

I also now have sharp head pain on Pristiq. I am going to see what my pdoc thinks but I think it's time to switch. I got off Celexa because it made me tired, I do not want to trade Celexa for Pristiq and still have the same issues. I might as well go back on Celexa, at least I know what to expect from that one.
