Lithium and Drooling

My mouth on lithium...

 

 

 

Anyone else on lithium having issues with drooling? I only do it when I'm concentrating on something and not paying attention to the buckets of spit that accumulate in my mouth. It happens. It's embarrassing.

When I used to be on it, it would only happen while I slept.

Nope. My mouth is dry a lot but that could be from other meds.

No drooling on Lithium, my mouth is mostly dry on my medications.

 

The only medication which caused drooling was haloperidal

No, no drooling.  My mouth stays dry and when I wake up tastes like warmed over rotten tomatoes.

I'm sorry but I don't get drooling from Litihium.  If anything I get the opposite (dry mouth).

I've read excess salivation can be a side effect, but I didn't realise how uncommon it is. I'm special. So special I can't hold it all in my mouth. I'm drooling special here.

There are a couple of meds that I'm aware of that can dry the mouth (because they cause dry mouth as a side effect)., but consult your doctor first.  The medications I'm speaking of are Cogentin and Artane, which of course have their own side effects (dry mouth being one).
