Insomniatica
Yesterday I left my Abilify, Zoloft, and Melatonin at home on accident. I won't be back til Monday. Any ideas of what I'm in for? (I'll post with how I'm doing as it goes along)
jt07
Abilify has a very long half-life so you are unlikely to feel anything from missing a few days of it. Not sure about Zoloft. It has a much shorter half-life than Abilify so it's possible that you will feel something, but I'm not sure. It's been several years since I've taken Zoloft, and I honestly can't remember. I've never had withdrawal effects from melatonin unless it was slightly more difficult to fall asleep.
Insomniatica
Updating with how things have been going: hard time sleeping last night due to no melatonin (and Abilify and Zoloft both make me tired when I take them at night, so I'm used to that), but today I've felt more normal and happy than I have in a long time. Even with Abilify's long half-life (75 hours) I'm suspecting that that a lower dose of Abilify is what is in order for me, as I've been crazy depressed on my current Abilify dose. So far it's been almost 48 hours since my last Abilify and Zoloft. We'll see how things go as the days go by.
Insomniatica
Why don't you go to a local store and get more melatonin? It's OTC and even if you have some at home, you'll use it eventually. LOL!! OMG you're so right. DUH. My crazy brain... forgot about that for some reason.
Insomniatica
So, for anyone wondering why I don't call up and get my doc to send over a script for a few pills: -She's out on vacation until Tuesday. -No one else is in the clinic either. -I get the Abilify delivered directly to the clinic, because I can't pay for it on my own, so I wouldn't be able to afford it even if I got another script for it... and couldn't pick it up from the clinic because I'm out of town and no one's there. So... yup! Edited March 30, 2014 by Insomniatica
Insomniatica
End result: I went back to my doctor after everything and let her know what happened. I felt so much better once the medication started leaving my system that we're going down on the abilify (from 12.5 to 5mg) and stopping the zoloft all together. We're still keeping some abilify as even in a small dose, it heads off my mania and keeps me from being overly sensitive when it comes to sensory issues. It also helps with irritability.
