Aleia
I wonder how this is gonna work out. They had me on Lexapro and, if anything, it made things worse. They put me on Seroquel a week ago and they put me on Prozac when I was in the hospital recently. I have yet to see effects as it's still early on in me taking both but I'm WAY more tired and angry. Hopefully it's just coincidence? Either way I'm stuck taking these until at least next month when I can see my Psychiatrist.
IsabelleStPierre
Prozac can take a few weeks to a month to really start working. I tried Seroquel but it knocked me on my ass in the sleep department and I was sleeping like 18+ hours the first day I was on it, so they had to switch me off of that and ultimately put my on Haldol. Give it a chance and if things aren't better by the time you see your pdoc, then ask to have things changed up....
shesellsseashells
I agree with what Isabelle has said. I don't see much improvement with Prozac personally until I hit 40 or 60 mg.

jt07
I can't say anything about Seroquel, except that it is very sedating for most people, because I've never taken it, but Prozac made me extremely angry when I was on it. I finally had to give it up because I just couldn't contain my anger.
MiaB
I've no experience with Prozac, but I can tell you that Seroquel is for most people very sedating initially and at the lower doses. In fact, it counter-intuitively (again, for most, not necessarily all, people) can become less sedating with increased doses. I don't know why you were prescribed it, but it's been my wonder drug - the one stalwart in my meds cocktail for a few years now.
Alien Navel Cord
never been on prozac, but my cat has. RIP to her. Anyway, it helped my cat calm down a bit -- she was rather fussy. And peed all over the place. I don't suppose you do that? No, you wouldn't, you're not a cat, my apologies. Anyway, I am sure a human's experience with it will not be comparable to my cat, may she rest in peace, but I want you to know, she did well on it. And seroquel... knocks me out, TKO! Down for the count. Until something tries desperately to wake me up. 30 minutes later, my eyes might open, if I'm lucky. Does it work? Don't know yet, its only been 1 week at 150mg. We shall seeeeeeee.
mcjimjam
I found the Seroquel sedation went away eventually. My insomnia even came back! Prozac does take a while to kick in. A month or two and you could need dosage adjustments if it still isn't working at that point.
rowan77
I take both Seroquel and Prozac. My pdoc had me on only 20mg for a while as he feared I would switch into mania. However it did not help much at this dose. Once I was on 40mg for a few weeks my mood improved. The first dose of Seroquel that I took (2005) was 100mg IR. I was extremely sedated, sleeping around the clock and when I did get up to to go to the bathroom I literally had to crawl there as I was so dizzy and the room was spinning. Thankfully that disappeared when the dose went up and/or my body got used to it. I now take Seroquel XR 800mg and it is a great med for me. Wishing you all the best with your medication combination. Hope it helps!!
crtclms
Prozac made me super manic, but there were no mood stabilizers (at least that were in fashion) to help me.
Phoenix_Rising
I took Prozac by itself (before my dx got so damn complicated) for 12 years. I'm also taking it now (20mg) as part of the pharmacy I ingest daily. I have also taken Seroquel and it does knock you on your ass. I had trouble acclimating to it, but it sure knocked my symptoms down.
mjs190
Prozac @ 60 mg and Seroquel XR @ 200 mg works wonders for me. The Prozac didn't start to do anything until I hit 60. And the Seroquel was super sedating until I got above 150. So give it a chance, they both can take a little while to adjust to/find the right dose. Thirteen
Although I have never been on Prozac, I was on Seroquel XR before, 600mg did the trick (mind you I have BP with predominant Mania and Psychosis).
