Susinko
Hello Clearjellyfish. I would never never NEVER tell anyone that they are "too young" to experience what they are experiencing. I have been seeing things and hearing things since I was....11 maybe? Maybe some other stuff younger. I understand about suffering from severe anxiety. I have at several points in my life, pulled out enough hair to create bald spots. THAT'S a hard habit to break. I'm sorry that your mother always makes your mental problems about her. My mother was... She really really needed help herself. But I do sympathize with you. Is there anyway that your parents would help you see a therapist that could help you? I personally have found therapy to help so much. I also have to ask what breed of dog your puppy is? I have a four year old chocolate lab named Elle! I welcome you to the boards and I hope they help you and bring you possible comfort.
amialone48
Hello, and welcome to CrazyBoards! I'm relatively new here, too. I was really anxious posting my first time, as well -- I signed up in 2010, but wasn't able to get the courage to post until recently! -- but I think it is getting easier. Hopefully it will get easier for you too. This is a really nice and supportive place to be, so that certainly helps. I certainly don't think you're "too young" to be struggling with mental health issues. (I developed OCD around nine or ten years old, so I started young, too.) I'm sorry your mother isn't more sympathetic/empathetic. I'm glad you have a puppy friend to keep you company and support you. I have a dog as well, and she is one of my main reasons for wanting to recover. Welcome again! I hope that you'll stick around and that you'll get less anxious about posting. WinterRosie
Hi clearjellyfish. Our usual policy is that members need to be a couple of years older than you. You're welcome to come back in a few years. We do have members here who are 16 and 17, to give you an idea. This is because we really encourage self-advocacy and there are a lot of obstacles when you're under-age, including parents. We don't tend to know much about that, on the whole. It's not because MI is the domain of adulthood. That's a huge lie. Anyone who tells you that is not worth listening to. We're just not really set up for teens. There are mental health forums out there that are much more able to cope with the particular difficulties of teenagehood and MI. We're just not, and figured that you should know that from the get-go. One place that I liked to go for general support was here. They have a lot of resources. They might be able to help you find more localized resources, too. jt07
Hi, I was 12-13 when I first became sick, though I did suffer from anxiety for years before.
