solstar
I am on Abilify, Lexapro, and Lamictal and am suddenly having a problem with gritting and grinding my teeth. I keep catching myself doing it. Could one of the meds cause this or am I just too tense!?
Fiona
It could be the Lexapro. SSRIs do sometimes cause teeth clenching and grinding. The others might as well, check the PI sheets for 'bruxism.' Fiona

Fiona
stress <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Stress definately will. I had so much job and personal stress one summer that I managed to lock my jaw -- I could open it enough to get a fork in but that was it. In fact, I figured it out because I kept hitting my front teeth with my fork. Wearing one of those tooth guards is a good idea if you do a lot of grinding/clenching in the night. So does reducing stress. I unlocked my jaw by reducing stress and wearing a soft guard as much as I could. Fiona

Batou
Lexapro is the culprit for many people.
revlow
A couple people here: MY G-D TMJ! Someone just punch me in the jaw posted that Lamictal caused the problem -- includes some links to mouth guards. I didn't post there, but I can add that I'm one of those for whom Lamictal has caused an increase in my TMJ.
witchywoman
Lexapro makes me do it. That's the one I'd blame.
