Does it make a huge difference taking ambien on full stomach?

Recommended Posts

I took ambien for about three years and I don't remember any difference with an empty or full stomach.

FYI: I stopped taking ambien because it gave me irritable bowel. Not sure if that means anything for your question.

Ambien never worked for me. I tend to eat a lot in the evenings. Maybe it would have worked if I had abstained. I think I remember reading a post on here where a member said it worked great for them on an empty stomach, but on a full stomach it did jack all. Either way, taking it on a full stomach shouldn't cause you harm other than maybe a night of poor sleep.

I take the generic version, and on a full stomach I may as well take an aspirin.  On a (relatively) empty stomach, Ambien is awesome.  If I've eaten something light like a couple of scrambled eggs, it also works fine.  But if you've just stuffed yourself, forget it.

I had to take ambien for several years to get my 8 because my work hours were so long.  I read on rxlist.com that it was fat soluble so I made sure I didn't eat for 3 hours before bed and then ate some cream cheese or just a piece of any kind of cheese before taking the ambien and it worked awesome!  Not exactly scientific but I hope it helps some of you!

For me personally, yes it worked much better on a full stomach.  Not stuffed, but full enough that you aren't hungry anymore.  But when you take it, be ready to get into bed because it acts fast (at least for me it did).
