Zoloft- heart pounding, will it go away?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for some adivce from long term Zoloft users.

I have been on Zoloft for a little over 8 weeks (6@100mg, 2@150mg).

My anxiety and depression at gone for the most part, but what I am dealing with now is a constant hard, pounding heart beat and feeling of shakiness/nervousness/jitteriness, especially when I wake in the mornings. It prevents me from falling back to sleep. It seemed to happen after a few days after my last dose increase.

Did any of you experience this with Zoloft? If so, how long did it take to go away? Or did it?

Thanks!

I haven't experienced that at all. I had some really strange twitchy hyperactive symptoms after going from 50mg to 100mg, but my pdoc said it was fine and they went away in about a week. 150 mg made me feel like my brain was on fire, so I think that was just too high of a dose for me. It's possible you're having a bad reaction to the dose increase?

I'd recommend asking your pdoc about it. That's a weird side-effect and it can't hurt to check in about it.

My pcp didnt know. I can't afford a pdoc right now, and in this town it would take 3 months to get in as a new patient.

It might still be my underlying anxiety. If it is, I am worried as I was on 100mg Zoloft for 6 weeks (with some Mirt in there) and 150mg now for 16 days.
