I am on Seroquel XR 800mg and do not experience apathy on this medication. In fact I feel really good on it.

The times I have had apathy are times when I was unwell and not coping.

So basically in my case Seroquel takes away the apathy, not cause it

Why do you want to go off your meds, sonic? I remember what it was like when you were sick. It wasn't too long ago. To me, it looks like you are just finally getting stable. I'd hate to see you get sick again.

Well ok, what happened was I was taking them and ran out and have no gas until tommorrow so I could go pick that with the rest of my meds up.......no ride will take me or lend me money for co payment so that is it. And yes seroquel to me has the worst apathy.

It is true tho that being crazy would cause a deeper debiltating apathy.

Completely aside from whether or not you think it makes you apathetic, if there are serious financial reasons why you can't continue on seroquel, then you need to have a conversation with your pdoc as soon as possible. You were prescribed it for a reason, and if you are no longer able to take it, then your care provider has to know in order to make adjustments to your cocktail.  At the time that you have that conversation, you can discuss what levels of side effects are and are not acceptable for your day-to-day functioning.

The one thing that is a bad idea is to delay acting instead of taking this seriously.  If it helps, use the people who are telling you here that you do not do well off meds as a reality check.  I don't know when your next scheduled appointment is, but it's time to speak to that nurse again and ask that it be shifted to an earlier date.

I'm on a waiting list if anybody has canceled than I see him monday.....I can pay for it I just live 30 minutes awat from anywhere I can get it plus the 721 I make off SSDI doesn't really cover everything....I guess budgetting better would help and try to quit smoking but, that lightbulb hasn't went off in my head......I was just stuck having to wait it out until tomorrow when I get some of my money. That way it takes care of the co pay and gas if that's a little clearer to understand.....The nurse like all of you suggested that I do not quit until I see him si I'm going to listen to y'all and get it tomorrow.

Okay, that definitely wasn't clear earlier.  I still suggest talking to your pdoc if you're worried about side effects.  Personally, I'm on a high dose of seroquel and I do not experience apathy on it. In fact, it's the main thing that keeps me functioning well enough to both work and study.  However, if you're not feeling right, or if you're perpetually sluggish, then that's the kind of thing you need to raise with him.  It's a two-way relationship, and he can only act if you're reporting all the information to him.

Good luck, and hang in there!

Seroquel does not cause me any apathy. I take 200 mg of the XR. The sedation went away after a few weeks. Now I can function like a normal human without severe anxiety and crippling depression that wasn't able to be fully controlled until I was prescribed Seroquel XR.
