ovOidampUle
I installed an ad blocker a few months ago and completely forgot about it. It's been blocking ads for crazyboards all that time. I don't know how many fractions of a cent the board has lost because of it, but I'm turning it off for this board and some other independent sites. You may consider doing the same. Will
I installed an ad blocker a few months ago.... Is that a free app? Does it slow your browser down?
bluelikejazz
I use adblocker so I try to donate when I can to make up for lost revenue. Sometimes people go on to discuss specific ads they see on CB, just a pre-emptive not to. It's against google TOS and could cost CB the money it needs to keep running. brainweather
i removed CB from the list of websites to adblock, thanks for the notification. i've never even thought about it before. do i have to click on ads for CB to get revenue or is it just having them open that counts? MiaB
I'm pretty sure I recall something being posted a while back about how we shouldn't click on ads, but I can't find it. Maybe one of the other mods or admin will remember.
hagar
I use it. I was tired of seeing ads for the Mormon church and "all natural anxiety relief now!!1" endlessly. Didn't realize it might be costing CB money. Is that true?
mellifluous
i use it. adverts, especially when they're "targeted" based on what you've looked at, are basically fuel for certain...delusional thoughts of mine. i don't undertand how the money thing works. is it registered users only? and length of time? do you have to click around? i could leave my laptop on during the day without it if that helps. WinterRosie
hagar, yes. In short, CB (and other "free") sites get money per number of eyeballs that the ads reach. If your adblocker is on, your eyeballs aren't counted.
hagar
Thanks, Rosie! I've turned it off for this site.
