No good deed...

I live in a decent sized city which has a homeless/ drug problem. I was homeless for a bit due to " hitting rock bottom" with my depression amd subsequent dependence on alcohol to cope. I realized fairly quickly that the "streets" is not where I belonged and I needed to fix my life, I got help from social services and picked myself up and out of despair.

So, when I was driving down the street the other day I noticed a woman on the side of the road with a big black eye crying. After I drove past her I couldn't get her out of my mind and went back to see if I could help. I stopped and asked if she was ok, she said no. She got into my car and I pulled over to talk to her, she informed me that she was beat up by a man where she was staying and she had nowhere to go, I offered to take her to a shelter or Emergency Mental Health, she said she had already been to those palces and was kicked out (shoulda been my first clue) I then proceeded to ask her if she was hungry, she said yes as she had not eaten in awhile. I did notice a odor of alcohol and asked her about it, she said she had been drinking because she was so upset, understandable I thought, ok.

I called my live-in boyfrriend and asked if I could bring this woman over for something to eat and to figure out what to do, he was not happy but said ok, since we both had been in bad spots before and a helping hand did alot for us. Well she came over and switched on a dime, she told me to make her eggs and toast, I did, she asked for coffee, sure, she wanted to stay, no way. Well this crazy bitch proceeded to get beligerent with me and tried to sidle up to my boyfriend not realizing that I rule this house not him, she became delusional, imagining people and events that were not happening and crying and trying to hug me when I confronted her and told her to leave. After all that she tried to hit me up for money to buy crack. It took almost 2 hours to get this woman out of my house and I'm afraid she might show up again.

Why are people so shitty? WTF? I tried to help someone in need and almost got my ass kicked for it. PEOPLE SUCK!

Wow, sorry it ended badly for you.  Your were more trusting than I would have been.  One does not know someone's history and to assume the best in a person is so risky.

I'd be a bit worry as she has your address and knows what you have in your home.   I hope nothing bad comes out of your efforts to be helpful.

Oh my! What a great thing you did, and then she did all that to you... wow.

You have a big heart. You are a good person. Unfortunately, some people take advantage.

Back in my 20's, I offered a couple a ride home, and somehow this turned into a crack run. I was very glad to get their asses the hellout of my car.

I also let homeless people surf my couch, and they had a way of taking parting gifts.

Addicts of substances tend to be like that.
