Doubling Seroquel tonight - tell me what to expect...

Recommended Posts

A week ago I finally got into a pdoc, who totally switched up my meds (for MDD and GAD).  I had been on Lexapro 10 mg, and Straterra 40 mg, with 150 mg Trazodone to sleep.  Then- BOOM- she switches me to Effexor XR 75 mg and Seroquel 50 mg, but lowered by Traz to 100 mg.

Tonight I titrate the Seroquel up to 100 mg.  Am I going to be a hungover basket case in the morning?  I have had some great sleeps on the 50 mg, and only had the dreaded hangover the first morning...after that I was fine getting up in the mornings, really well rested actually.  Just wondering if I am going to make my 9:00 a.m. appointment...yikes.

Thanks all...

I don't think they make the extended release in 100, so I guess that would be regular.  I've forgotten.  It might take a couple of days to get used to the increase.  Maybe go to bed a little earlier to make your appt?  But then try and get back to your regular schedule.  I think it's important to keep on schedule.

I can't talk for anyone else, but it gave me a sort of hangover the first days + I slept 9-10 hours (I am now at 100mg, and no trouble waking up at all, but it took me a few days to adjust), so I'd go like Will, taking it early to make sure you have no problem in the morning.

Ok, thank you!  It is 8:30 pm. here...going to take it now...fingers crossed :)

Also, my pdoc said that the Seroquel is to combat the anxiety...I haven't noticed that effect at 50 mg...hopefully I will see some benefit at 100 mg.

Thanks all.

I had a good night, I am happy to report...I took my 100 mg (yes it is the IR, not XR) at 8:45 pm.-ish, and I was zonked out in half an hour.  So much so that I forgot to take the Trazodone I was supposed to take with it.  I slept well, but actually woke up before my alarm, at 5:30...maybe because of not taking the traz?  I have been taking trazodone for years and it really does improve my quality of sleep, i.e. no early waking.  I guess the overall thing is that I didn't have the hangover, so that is good.

Great!  Yeah, IR hits you quicker.  But I like that.  XR does not work well for me when I'm ill.  I like to be able to try and get to sleep soon after taking.
