Anhedonia and other sufferings caused by antipsychotics

Recommended Posts

The fuck face pro medication mod (who isn't interested in the Truth for everyone to know so that the best possible decision can be made for each person, only his belief that antipsychotics are helpful and not bad at all, which is hideously false) closed the first thread on this very serious and important topic.

The thread:

Let's continue the dialogue.

I was on geodon for three months, stopped for five months (very slight if any improvement), then I was on invega sustenna for three months, and I've now been off it for almost five months. The inner torment/akathisia has gotten better, but the anhedonia that I've had since taking geodon over a year ago hasn't seemed to improve much or at all. My quality of life before antipsychotics was about 2/10. Since taking antipsychotics it's been a range of -3 and -8, and it's currently about -3.

Should i recover in a year or two, or am I fucked for life?

Referring to a mod as a "fuck face" is downright offensive, unacceptable and is going to get you nowhere fast here.  Scanning through the previous thread on "this very serious and important topic" reveals that it dragged on for about six* months, and was eventually closed because it degenerated into discussions about recreational drugs and bizarre references to being force fed antipsychotics.

If you really want to dredge up this "dialogue" and ask questions about the extent to which side effects of a class of meds can linger, check your attitude at the door and speak civilly.

*correction - it was kept alive for eight months

Anti-psychotics cannot be evil.  They are a medication and medications aren't spirits or people.  You may very well have had a bad experience with a med, but that does not make it evil.  The mod is quite correct in this stance.  Back away from your keyboard for a moment and take a deep breath.  Stop calling the mods names and freaking out.  There are a lot of people who take anti-psychotics, myself included, that feel as though these meds saved their lives.

Demonizing an entire class of medications just because you had a bad experience is not okay. Many, many people, myself included, have been helped by antipsychotics.

We're all "fuck face pro medication" mods here, because this is a pro-treatment site.

There are many forums on the internet that would welcome, with open arms, your theories on the evils of APs. This isn't one of them.

Closing thread.
