Hi, there, I'm Anxiety Annie and I was diagnosed with GAD about two years ago. I have had a hell of a time finding medications that help me, but I'm persevering! I was a different person before the anxiety and through many hours of therapy am coming to accept that I will never be that person again. I have a great therapist (after a couple of tries) and a good pdoc who has been willing to work with me on my many drug sensitivities. My anxiety was so bad at first that I could barely function and I prayed to die. I have come a long way since then.

In my former life, I was a Compliance Director for a local health insurance company. It was a demanding and difficult job, but I loved it. My husband was diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder (now changed to BiPolar disorder) when we has been married for about 10 years and I have been his care taker for the past 19 years. Until recently he was well maintained on Klonopin, Amitriptyline and Depakote. He decided 2 years ago, that he would rather be manic and so he stopped taking the Depakote AMA. It's been a roller coaster ride ever since and no, it's not a coincidence that my anxiety went out of control at the same time. I just couldn't deal with it anymore. Dealing with him is still a huge trigger for my anxiety. Therapy is helping. I have a long way to go, though.

Another gift of the anxiety is intractable insomnia. In fact, many of the meds that I have tried and failed have been attempts to help me to sleep. I guess the next step sims sleep retraining program. Anyway, thanks for reading this far and I hope to find some friends and helpful information along the way!

Welcome Annie!

Chronic Anxiety is pure hell, and I empathize on how debilitating it can be. I have suffered with severe Social Anxiety for more that 20 years of my life and understand how different life is with and without that physical, mental emotional symptoms!

You'll find great support for your own anxiety and medications, as well as support on your stress with your DH in the Relationship Issues section. Having our own MI can be difficult enough, but adding 2 crazies under one roof can be quite the hardship (my DH is also MI).

Hello, and welcome to CB! You should find plenty of support, empathy and information for your condition here.

Please take a moment to read our rules, if you haven't already done so.  You'll see there that we emphasise that this is a first person site.  While you are more than welcome to post on the forum Sloane mentioned above about how your relationship with your husband affects your life and illness, unfortunately you can't speak or ask anything on his behalf.

Feel free to contact any of the staff if you have any questions.

Best wishes,

Mia

Thanks, everyone for the welcome Mia, thanks for the guidance. I will be careful not to ask anything on my husband's behalf. I am really just here to talk to others like myself. There are lots of therapy groups in my area for substance abuse or depression, but none for anxiety. While I don't expect quite that experience, it's sometimes nice to bounce things off others who have been where I am. Thanks again everyone for,the welcome!
