Hello for another new person

Recommended Posts

I’m OffKilter.

I’ve been struggling with depression for the several years, but always felt I could manage it on my own.  The past couple of months have been really bad and the recent weeks especially so.  The constant dark thoughts had worn me down.  I reached the point where I had to ask for some help from my GP.  I’d finally past the point where asking for help was not more difficult than trying to manage it on my own.  I’ve been taking Brintellix for almost 2 weeks.

In addition to taking the Brintellix, I decided that I’d start to track my food intake and force myself to get in a daily walk.  I thought that if I could get that part of my life under control, it would help with the depression.  The food tracking and walks have been going on for a week.

I found this site from the long Brintellix postings.  I read every one of them.  It was really helpful.  This is quite an amazing site.

Hello and welcome sir, even though you have just made me get up from my computer to go and get a couple of dictionaries.

Yes.

As I suspected, kilter only seems to survive as "out of"

"Ah, that's spot on kilter, that is," is no longer possible, if indeed it ever was.

I've never been properly gruntled, either.

Emettman,

Yep, never heard, "Roger Houston.  All systems are kilter."

No, and it just doesn't sound as though things are right, even without the "off"

Meanwhile, does "Dory" come in any other types than "Hunky"?

I am so glad I grew up to English as my first language.  Imagine actually having to learn this mess.

Chris.

(This odd stuff is one of the sorts of thing that nudges my brain towards the amused side of life:

little bits of fun, unconnected with anything in particular.)

Emmetman, yes, "dory" does indeed come in a non-hunky version.

A "dory" is a small boat that has since been replaced by life rafts. It was used both as a life raft and to get from the galleons to the shores.

Plenty of Dory boats round the UK,  with some considerable variety in design  it's still a popular local commercial fishing boat.

Cornish Dory's are usually motor-powered and can have a small front cabin open to the rear.

And also several related types of fish. Most frequently John .  But i agree neither especially Hunky.

"John was a Hunky Dory"?
