lodipants
Just got my approval letter for the Takeda Pharmaceutical's Patient Assistance Program! They will supply my Brintellix through the end of the year. The cost of B was a big issue for me as to whether I'd be able to continue on the medication or if down the I'd have to stop it for financial reasons, so this is a big relief to me. If you find that Brintellix is working for you and cost is a prohibiting factor, here's the link to their U.S. patient assistance program (Help at Hand) where you can determine if you qualify and download the application:http://www.takeda.us/responsibility/patient_assistance_program.aspx If you're not in the U.S., they may have a similar program in your region. If you go to the website and click on the Worldwide link, select your region, then click on the official website link for that region. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to screw the company (I certainly don't want them to go bellyup), nor am I suggesting everyone take advantage of this, but if cost plays as big a role as it does for me in whether you can continue on B or not, I suggest looking into this. quiet storm
I wouldnt worry too much about the company. For people with insurance who simply cant afford the copay, Takeda will still be getting the insurance companies portion. My copay is around $100. Insurance is paying another $100. Thanks quiet storm. I know a lot of people want to "stick it" to the pharmaceutical companies. I just wanted to be clear that I don't have any such motive in posting this. Just want people to be able to get their meds if they can't afford them without assistance.
OffKilter
I picked up my first prescription yesterday, 20mg. I have a $50 copay. Not great, but better than many I’ve seen on this board.

My copay is just over $100. Hopefully by the time my patient assistance runs out, I'll be able to afford it. Even though most people with insurance don't qualify, I did because my income is so low. OffKilter
I was actually surprised that my copay was that “low”. If it can get me back to where I want to be (and have been), then it is a cheap investment. I hope you’ll be able to afford whatever works best for you. Well, as of today my husband is temporarily out of work, so with less income and no more insurance, I definitely won't be able to afford full price anytime soon, especially since I'll now be paying full price for all my other meds. Thank you, Takeda!!!

I pay out of pocket for my pdoc anyway since he doesn't accept insurance (that's something I've always done - it's worth it for a good one). I usually just try to eke it out and I've made it through before. Since B replaced the Zoloft rather than adding to it, I now don't have to pay for any AD, so that should help. Lamictal is probably the most expensive with Wellbutrin coming second. Right now I'm getting as many 90-day refills as I can while they're still covered (at least I think they are through the end of the month). The others (Klonnies and pain meds) are cheap. Hopefully by the time those run out the hubs will have a job and insurance again. I'm self-employed so I'll just have to pray the work keeps coming in to keep us going. We've been in this predicament before and survived it. I'm sure we will again.
Unstrung Harp
I picked up my first prescription yesterday, 20mg. I have a $50 copay. Not great, but better than many I’ve seen on this board. When I saw my pdoc last week he told me that the Brintellix sales person had just been through and left some $30 coupons, so he passed one on to me. Haven't activated it or tried to use it yet, but I assume it will cover part of my $50 copay and bring it down to $20 for the month. Worth asking your pdoc if they've got any coupons sitting around. Yes, he originally gave me a card for $100 off Brintellix, in case I wanted to continue it beyond the samples. Since the samples were enough to tide me over until I received the patient assistance meds that Takeda is sending me, I'm returning the card so it can be made available to another patient who might need it. The card will cover part of your copay. I just got my first 90-day shipment today from Takeda by the way.
