Meezers
I'm feeling like Provigil isn't doing anything for my depression.. not even really sure it should.. What it is doing is simply keeping me awake..rather than sleeping all day or dozing all day and laying like a sloth in their habitat. I'm still frigging severely depressed but now I'm able to stay awake for it all day.. .yay... I still can't get anything done that needs to get done..I just exist and do nothing.. Has it helped with your depression or has it motivated you? So basically it just keeps me awake so I can be with my depression and it doesn't motivate me..Perhaps I would be better off with another type of stimulant as SSRI's don't combine well with my brain chemistry.. malachite
I found I had a lot more energy on Provigil (which was great, because in addition to MDD, I have CFIDS.) But it made me so ragey! I had to stop it. I think it helped my depression in the sense that I had more energy, but the irritability was out of control.
Meezers
Malachite Thanks for sharing your experience. Sorry the Provigil didn't work well with you. Perhaps I'll see the energy effect at some point.. Did you have trouble with your sleep as well? Meezers
malachite
Well, Meezers, I can't sleep well anyway, at least not without an arsenal of meds. I didn't see a change while on Provigil, however I wasn't on it very long due to a rage vortex.
lavender fairy
I was on Provigil for a whort while. It helped me stay awake while I was on it, but when it wore out, I would crash and not be able to wake. I didn't find that it helped with my depression. melissaw72
I'm currently on provigil, and it really helps keep me awake more than I would be had I not been taking it (I have narcolepsy so without it I am constantly falling asleep). I don't find it helps much with depression, but then again I cant say for sure because I am on so many other meds that could be making the difference. Meezers
Thanks for the replies everyone. How long was it before your dose was increased if it even was increased?... I'm just not sure if this is a drug that takes time to build up in your system or the kind that works immediately.? Meezers

Meezers For me it worked immediately, but then after a couple years we had to increase the dose. And we'll probably have to increase the dose again if my current sleeping pattern stays like it has been lately.
lavender fairy
my doc gave me permission to increase my dose on my own when she first prescribed it. I think I was up to 200 mg. It just wasn't that helpful for me.
Savannah
I take 200mg every am, a long with Zoloft. I do notice it, but it takes a while before it hits. If i gring 2 lg diet dr pepper at the same I can really feel an up so that is what I usually .
