iaawal
Hi guys, My allergies have gone crazy AGAIN. Not sure what kind of allergies they are but they last all year. I have a fever and my head feels hot! Anyone else deal with mild fevers? If so, how do you get rid of them? It's so uncomfortable. I feel like I have the flu my whole body aches but I know it's my allergies going crazy again.
Stickler
Lots of Benadryl plus ibupoppins. Consider that you might have a bacterial infection and don't take anything you react weirdly to. I can take it, but I'm a freak of nature and can take all manner of things.
Meezers
I hope you're feeling better now. I know any kind of allergies can suck as they wreak havoc on your immune system. Or is it the other way around? .. darn meds..hmm.. Meezers
melissaw72
How about using ice packs on your head? Do you take allergy medication?
iaawal
I feel better after taking allergy meds and tylenol. Not the best but still. Hmmm benadryl? Never tried that before.
crtclms
Benadryl is kind of the go to antihistamine. It's what my doctors always recommend as the first thing to try when I am having problems sleeping, too. It works well for most people, but it can make you really drowsy. Benadryl actually doesn't work for my dog (dogs use it a lot), but that surprised all of her vets. She's on something different now, chlortrimeton (oh, I butchered that). I know it used to be on the market for humans, but I haven't seen a bottle in a pharmacy in a while. When I am having trouble breathing, I use a saline spray to do a nasal irrigation: You tilt your head back, give each nostril a good *squirt,* not a spray, of the saline solution. Then you will immediately want to blow it out. It isn't pleasant, but it's not painful. Once, I actually had a sinus infection, and it was still in its early stages. The "advice nurse" told me to try the nasal irrigation 3 times a day, and by the end of third day, if I was still blowing green snot, then to go in to see my Dr. It actually worked, much to my surprise. I avoided a course of antibiotics! Always a good thing.
iaawal
I have some benadryl that I only used once for zyprexa side effects. It didn't make me drowsy so I might just give it a shot! I use a neti pot, but have never tried that. I might look into that since my allergies are still killing me right now.
melissaw72
There is also this nasal saline you can buy at like CVS (or probably other pharmacy stores), and you can squirt it in your nose and it kind of cleans it out ... it really helps me. It is called "Ocean" and the bottle says: For allergies, cold, flu, sinusitis, rhinitis, and dry irritated nasal passages. Safe for frequent, daily nasal care. Gentle enough for Infants. Natural, non-medicated relief.
Squish
I get mild-moderate fevers from drug allergies (various antibiotics) but not from pollen. Mind you, the drug allergies also have me covered from head to toe with hives. They're much more severe than hay fever.
