sonnynotsunny
Hi everyone, I guess I'm here for two reasons actually. I've been posting on other boards for the first time since finally admitting that I have some depression/anxiety going on that needs to be dealt with and think it might help to be around people in a similar boat. But I also want to ask about my sister--I know I have been susceptible to depression and anxiety in the past, but my older sister has been violatile for as long as I can remember--constantly screaming at my parents, getting into fights, issues with her weight and marijuana (not necessarily correlated ), etc. Now that we're older (she's in her mid 30's) she has come to me asking if anything medication-wise has worked for me since she knows I went through some low periods. However she is definitely more severe--snapping and borderline verbally abusive to anyone around her one minute; sappy and reminiscing about the past the next. I know I tend to drink quite a bit to deal with stress and anxiety and she smokes the green--I prefer this over medication whether bad or good--but I know she is really looking for help if she's opening herself up enough to come to me. Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions! Anything is really appreciated! Thank you!
MiaB
Welcome to CrazyBoards! You are free to post and look for assistance and support with your own depression and anxiety issues. However, I'm afraid we can't help you with your sister's problems, as this is a first person site. This is outlined both in our rules and in the thread entitled Please read this if you are here on behalf of a friend or loved one. The latter thread has some suggestions on sites that provide support for anyone who is trying to cope with the mental health issues of people close to them. You are welcome to contact any members of staff if you have questions.
