New To Board and Happy To Be Here

Recommended Posts

It's really nice to find a message board of likeminded people to talk about various issues with.

I am a writer of various articles about ways to help us focus and concentrate better and also am an avid fan of tennis. I look forward to making new friends :)

Welcome to the board. I used to write for Demand Media, Helium, and a few other outfits before life went sideways for me. I never could play tennis, though I tried (the concrete they use for courts "tickles" and tastes funny, by the way). Dunno where you'll be hanging out on the board the most, but you can catch me at the Bipolar, PTSD, and Whatever subforums the most. If you have any questions, there are places to ask those, the tutorial-esque sections, and you can always send me a message for whatever reason. Welcome again, and take care.

Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it. Those really do sound like fascinating boards that i don't know much about, but I am not totally ignorant to them.

Tennis is a great sport, but man it is frustrating!

Hi there and welcome to CB! Please read our rules if you haven't already (there's a link in the bottom right hand part of the screen), and feel free to read the forums until you feel comfortable about posting.

Don't hesitate to contact a mod or admin (we're the ones with "staff" or "admin" under our usernames) if you have any questions related to being a new user that you can't find answers for on the forums.

Best wishes,

Mia

Welcome.

Just as a reminder to everyone - We encourage people to post openly on the boards instead of using the private message feature for personal support for several reasons.

First, people will get a broader variety of input and responses by posting on the boards. After all, we're a site by wingnuts for wingnuts.

Second, people may want a faster turn around time to questions or concerns than one individual can offer. The best way to make sure you get your needs met quickly is by posting on the main boards.

Finally, providing individual support to one person can sometimes set up a dynamic where the person receiving support wants more that the person providing support can provide. To be fair to everyone and to reduce the likelihood of any hard feelings, we encourage posting on the main boards.

We encourage people to PM each other as needed as well as to PM moderators with site-related questions/concerns, but we encourage people not to use PMs as an exclusive source of one on one support, especially crisis support.

welcome, tlartin123.

If I may ask, what is your flavor of mental illness/mentally interesting that brings you to CrazyBoards?

We are a peer support site, not a research site or topic inspiring site for people struggling with writer's block.

I notice in your profile that you like to research and write about OTC stims. You probably won't find a lot of support for that here because we are a pro-treatment site. That means we advocate for people having a team of professional health care providers to work with to find the most effective treatment for their symptoms.

Forgive my skepticism if you belong on a peer support site for people with mental illness. I've just seen my share of gawkers come through, and we aren't the Crazy Zoo, so I am, indeed skeptical.
