Aderrall for Depression

Recommended Posts

I'm almost a senior citizen and have struggled with depression since elementary school--- in fact I call my depression "5th Grade Disease"! Nothing traumatic happened back then & I've had a "charmed" life EXCEPT for depression. My shrink added Aderrall to my antidepressants Wellbutrin &Cymbalta. Anyone else taking Aderrall for depression?? What dose & does it help? Still trying to get "happy"

I take it to counterbalance the fatigue that results from Zyprexa, but have also found it to be effective against depression.  I've used it in that capacity two or three times in the last decade and have had good luck with it.  The only problem I have is that, before this time, it would crap out.

I have a friend who is BP and his pdoc has him taken 200mg in the am and once late morning.

His pdoc calls it a " mood brightener . I take 200 in the am. I have more energy and happier when I take it along with lots of diet Pepsi.

I was given it to me to help stay awake in the am.

You mean you take 200 mg of Provigil, don't you? I'm certain you don't mean 200 mg of Adderall.

I've taken it for depression.  I had trouble with needing higher and higher doses to affect anything, then we figured out I have fibromyalgia.  I would NOT like to try it again.

I'm in this sitatuion with my chronic fatigue syndrome.

Adderall - when it "kicks in" in the morning, is when I feel brightest in the day.

Unfortunately...I crash after only about 2 hours of taking it. The crash at its worst is the most depressed, irritated, angry and tired I feel all day.

And I think it's had long-term effects on me...I tried tapering down and coming off it all together last year and I just couldn't function. I wound up having to take 6 months off of working altogether at any capacity. I'd been freelancing from home and had to even quit that. I just wanted to sleep and die all day -- after SIX MONTHS.
