Phoenix87
Hi all, Just signed up hoping the people here could help me. Iv been on 1mg of risperidone/risperdol for a month, along with 20mg of prozac. I'm 27. I want to come off the risperidone and will be seeing my doctor on Thursday about it. However, I have an extreme phobia of vomiting. It's caused me panic attacks on numerous occasions when I think it's going to happen. Thankfully it hasn't in years however the sheer thought of it happening devastates me so if it did, I don't know how I could cope. So I'm here to ask, is it a withdrawal symptom from this drug? Am I on it long enough to have withdrawals? Any honest experience or answers would be so appreciated. Thanks all
CeremonyNewOrder
I have been resperidone before and never got withdraw symptoms. I've in fact never gotten any withdraw symptoms from any AAP.
wadjet
I have been on and off resperidone without any problems. I have checked before and I don't think nausea is a symptom of withdrawal with resperidone.

jt07
I cold-turkeyed off 4 mg of risperidone when I started Abilify. I didn't have any withdrawal effects.

mellifluous
I have been resperidone before and never got withdraw symptoms. I've in fact never gotten any withdraw symptoms from any AAP. same here. i've not had withdrawal symptoms from risperdal or other atypical. i guess my psychosis has always come back. but that's a separate issue. good luck with coming off it. i would also note that i just read your post again and i was on as much as twelve milligrams and i flat flushed, so, though yeah, not advising you do that or anything, i would think that coming off one milligram would be less stressful on your system? i imagine it varies from person to person, but...still...seems reasonable to anticipate not having a reaction that makes you vomit or dry heave. hope that helps
Phoenix87
Thanks all for the comments. Saw my doc today and I'm coming off the risperidone and prozac at same time. 10 mg of prozac for two nights then no anti depressants for 4 days then start 5mg of lexapro ( I was on it before and did ok on it ) also the respiridone is now .5 mg for 5 days. Does this sound like a safe plan ?
