missme
Hi! I am new here. Hope I'm posting in the right place. I'm currently on cymbalta. Started at thirty mg. Then went up to 60 then 90. I also have crohn's disease and I just can't tolerate the gastric side effects that the cymbalta has. So my pdoc reduced it back down to 60 with the option of talking about switching to effexor or fetzima on the 28th. In the mean time still having the nasty gastric effects so I took myself down to 30 as I can't get into see her any sooner (I go thru a county program) I've read some of the stuff on here and alot of people said both made them feel edgy or anxious. I already have that problem and while the cymbalta has helped the depression some it's done nothing for my anxiety. I have kolonipin too but can really only take it on the evening. I've also gained 20lbs on the cymbalta and that's putting me into a new depression as I've been walking (heavy exercise can't be done as I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia also) and watching what I eat to no avail. But I always...always...feel hungry. I know meds effect everyone different..but was hoping to see if someone else has these issues and get some options from someone who's taken one or both of these. As my pdoc just gave me the names to get info and talk about on our next visit and....well I'm kinda clueless. I know I was on seraquel years ago and it did nothing for me and gained mass weight then also. Sorry for all the misspelled medications...and jumbled thoughts.... katie.goodair
I'm on effexor 225 and its done me a world of good. I've had no side effects from it, and it took me (with remeron) from suicidal to pretty good. I came off the remeron because I was so sleepy, and because of the weight gain, but i'm still on 225 mg of effexor. However, like you said, every drug effects everyone differently, and I've heard a lot of people complain about effexor - especially about withdrawal symptoms (i get dizzy/headaches if i don't take it the same time every day) and it setting off manic spells in bipolar people (thankfully it doesnt have that effect on me). i think it's one of those drugs where it either works really well, or you just don't get on with it at all.. I don't know if I've been any help here but just remember that something one person said about a drug, good or bad, won't necessarily happen to you, and you can always change again Its a slow process getting better but it IS worth it Best wishes to you
missme
Thank you for your reply! I'm currently having withdraws from the cymbalta..and hurt everywhere. I defiantly know the results of the cymbalta did not surpass the side effects...and going thru this after just being on it a few months had got me wondering if any of these meds are really good for people to take.. I will talk to my pdoc next Friday will most likely try the effexor and has been on the market longer...and hope for better results.
