You can call me J, I guess

I've struggle with depression, anxiety, OCD, and bulimia for a long time now.

A couple of years ago I, fortunately (because I lived)/unfortunately (because I got to such a low point), had a failed suicide attempt and that's when I started getting treatment.

Treatment has been an on and off thing for me, probably because I'M so stubborn, but, hey! I keep trying, so that's good, I think?

I haven't been to a therapist since last summer and I've been off meds since then too (after discussing it with my pdoc) because I wanted to self sabotage and what not. But I'm sick of feeling like shit all the time and not living to my full potential, so I made an appointment with a new therapist, but that's not until July. So yeah. Hopefully I can get things figured out!

Okay, okay, I'm done haha

The End

Hello J and Welcome to Crazyboards!

We ask all our new members to take a look at The Rules.

Do you feel as though things are better or worse without meds?  Are you going to see your psychiatrist again?  I'm glad to hear that you're back in therapy.

Please don't hesitate to ask a staff member if you have any questions or concerns.

Again, welcome!

Welcome to Crazyboards.

I think that many of our members have tried to go off their meds at some point---it's not unusual.  Unfortunately, it's usually pretty much a failure.

I'm glad you came here and I hope we can help you on the road to stability.

Things are definitely worse without meds! I've been put on a couple of different meds these past few years and only had one that caused suicidal thoughts as a side effect, but the others I was just too picky about the little side effects or I was just straight up resisting treatment. These days, I would much rather run the "risk" of a little weight gain, or what have you, and feel stable than have the depression be so up in my face constantly. So, yes, I'll be making an appointment with my psychiatrist soon...just going to wait and see if there's one at the place where my new therapist is located, that way I can just go to one place for both.
