Meezers
Provig seems to have had a postive impact on my severe depression of laying in bed all day staring at the wall and dozing, the hypersomnia, lack of motivation and all that fun other stuff. But it's still not enough to get my as$ in gear. And my cognition is affected by other meds and depression. Dr. presented me with two options.. Increase the Provig Or Start Rita --which I've been on before. I don't think he wants to have me on both at the same time.. There are certainly differences with each of these... Provig lasts longer but is less intense for me..Rita is shorter acting, more intense and gets my as$ in gear enough to accomplish worthwhile things. But I'm worried after Rita wears off I'll become even more depressed than I originally was..which I think happened in the past for me. Rita gets to the point where you just need it to function...you become dependent on it..so is it worth it? Concerned Rita may make me bat$hit crazy as well...you know the overactivation, crazy, not in a good place mentally, and uncomfotable feeling. Believe I was pretty close to that on it last time... But I know it will get me participating in life again. These meds are similar yet different....thoughts, experiences and ideas? I'm torn. mcjimjam
I agree with Sylvan. It is easier to increase what you are already taking than try a different med. If you are taking a stim for it's "wakefulness-promoting" properties rather than ADHD, Provigil is possibly more suited to that, based on it's FDA approvals and marketing. jt07
I agree with Sylvan also. It's better to give a med every chance before throwing it out. You can always go back to Ritalin if it doesn't work out.
Meezers
Thanks All. Problem though...some days Provig hits me differently...some days I get a great response as I previosuly mentioned. Unfortunately today the Provig made me much more tired, sedated like, with difficulty thinking after taking it (felt fine prior to) and just slow and stupid, and staring off. This happened before with the Provig and I have read reports of others stating that it indeed has made them slow, foggy, and confused as well. I'm 100% 100% confident the Provig does this to me sometimes..as it's happened before..but why some good response days and other days it screws me up..? And how does one explain this to their Dr..? without sounding more nuts.. Thought I finally found something that would alleviate my discomfort... It's really not worth it to stay on this as it's affecting me differently. It's screwing up my cognition and personality royally when it hits me differently. Thank You, Meezers
Savannah
I take 200mg of provigil and it helps. I find if I drink a lot diet dr pepper right when I wake up it helps. When I was working, I was written up several times for falling asleep during meetings, even with provigil.
