KamelotFan
Honestly not sure what is causing these muscle spasms but it's gotta be something. Any ideas? These are not just the fine tremors that are normal on a drug like Lithium. These are almost like seizure jerks in my legs, feet, fingers, even my back. I'm currently taking Lithium, Zoloft, Haldol, and Buspar. Lithium and Haldol can both cause fine tremors but this is a lot more than that. I told my doctor about it but he didn't really take it seriously, but it's freaking me out and I'm afraid it might become permanent.
CeremonyNewOrder
I think you should see another doctor if he/she is dismissing your legitimate concerns. If not, I would bring it up again and demand your doctor do something about it.

We can't really speculate what the problem is because we're just loons on the Internet, but your doctor should take you seriously. melissaw72
I agree with Ceremony and Stickler ... I would get a second opinion if your DR isn't taking you seriously. I think what you are going through is a legitimate concern that needs to be dealt with.
evilnessness
Not saying that it's what it is, but antipsychotics, especially older ones, can cause an array of movement disorders. I had a dyskinesia kind of like yours on a typical antipsychotic and I told her, a drug is doing it, and she was like nah, see your gp and it was extremely annoying!!! I saw a different doctor and he agreed it was drug induced. I get so mad when doctors are ignorant or dismissive of side effects!!! So yeah, I hope you can get a second opinion. San
It sounds like it could be a side effect from the Haldol, since you don't have a medication like Cogentin added on. Definitely be firm with your doctor talking about it. Haldol can cause jerking movements. If its happening only when you're sitting or laying down it could be a myoclonic jerk. Warning: Crazy on the internet, don't take seriously.
Chimako
Also crazy on the internet: Lithium causes this for me. Not as badly as depakote but still significant. When I'm carrying things seems to be the favored time, broke my coffee jar like that. It's usually my hands, sometimes my legs.
Savannah
Seroquel gives me muscle twitches . They hit in my legs, butt muscles and core. They don't happen very often, I actually enjoy them.
crtclms
Chimako, it sounds like you need to be drinking fluids. I don't know if this will work for med relate cramps, but bananas are helpful for cramps in general: It's the potassium. Some football players eat a banana right before the game, to prevent charley horses.
smac84
I am on Abilify and Prolixin and I am having such prominent tremors in my arms and legs that my pdoc put me on Artane to counteract those side effects.

Propranolol got rid of tremors for me.
crtclms
I have a gross tremor from lithium. It doesn't sound like my situation is like yours, but you should know that gross tremors can be a side effect of lithium, not just fine tremors. Like Chimako, things jump out of my hands on occasion, or I suddenly lose balance.
