Personally, I've never experienced any noticeable difference between any of the several different generic brands that I've been given over time, including Mylan, Par, and Teva.  The only difference I have felt is between the categories of release mechanisms (IR, SR, XL).

I've had no noticeable side effects other than a little bit of speedy jitters at the very start, not any worse than having had too much coffee.  I've been on every increment of doses between 100-300mg of both SR and XL, both as monotherapy and combined with various doses of various SSRI's.  I've still not found quite the optimum drug cocktail even after years of tinkering, but that has more to do with intermittent insurance coverage (therefore never having enough consistent access to the same docs or drug options over enough time) than anything specifically to do with different brands of bupropion.

Everyone reacts differently to different drugs.  It's impossible to predict whether your experience may be similar or completely different to mine or anyone else's.

Thank you to everyone who replied. That is very helpful information. I guess I just have to give it some time and see for myself if it makes me feel better. I was just worried because I've read that some generics didn't work and especially the Xl version. I hope this works for me. Thanks again.

i take teva generic XL and it works just fine. I was on mylan prior to that, no differences between the 2. At one point they gave me this shit called budperion (sp?) and it was awful. I told pdoc it felt different, I went back to getting it at a different pharmacy and then eventually I think that's the stuff they took off the market. I could be remembering wrong though. But yea, I've had no trouble with buproprion generics, just that damn budperion stuff.

What about using birth control while on bupropion? I read somewhere that birth control can make some antidepressants less effective. Has anyone here had taken both birth control and bupropion together? I really want my bupropion to work but I would hate to have to stop using my birth control .

You might try asking that question in the forum for Hormones.  You might get more responses if our female members see your question there.  Make the title something like "Wellbutrin and birth control" and you'll hear from people who are on both meds.
