sonicwhite
So I talked to my doc on Monday about how I have tried every generic with little punch on my anxiety so I asked him if he could write out the name brand so he did. Under the OptumRx plan I was able to get them covered under my insurance. Now all I have to do is wait until my script is ready to be refilled which is the 19th and they have to special order it. Is there anyone here who can give their two cents on how well they are?
sonicwhite
anyone?
Wooster
I never noticed a difference between different kinds of generics for myself, and I don't believe I ever had a brand name benzo. Sorry you're not getting many answers. Are you working with a tdoc to address the root causes of your anxiety and increase your skills to manage the anxiety so you need less medication and get better results? sonicwhite
Yes I have been doing therapy writing down what I feel....but, mainly I have relied on benzo's which I know that's going to have to change.
jt07
The only brand name benzos that I've taken were Xanax and the extended release Xanax. I really couldn't tell a difference. If you've been on Klonopin for a while, you could be developing a tolerance. I developed a tolerance after being on Klonopin for about 2 years or so and I finally quit taking it after three years since it wasn't doing anything for me anymore. I don't want to discourage you. Maybe switching to brand name might help you. It just isn't my experience.
AnxietyGirl74
Hi. I don't do well on Teva's generic and they only had that at the pharmacy I went to tonight so I got name brand Klonopin and took one a little while ago and I feel so relaxed, not drugged or sleepy or anything, but just really relaxed and not stressed. I think I will ask my psych if she will write for brand from now on. I can definitely tell a different between this and the generics I usually get. AnxietyGirl74
Teva's generic stinks. It makes me feel drugged and sleepy. I get brand and it's so much better. It relaxes me, but doesn't incapacitate me. It allows me to concentrate and not be so anxious and OCD.
sonicwhite
Ya I have GAD but my main problem is OCD and klonopin seems to crush it......Is it smoother than the generic where it doesn't make you depressed.......I'm bouncing off of trying to take less but also feeling happy. sonicwhite
Well this sucks. I guess I'll have to go with the crappy Mylan brand until I can get the roche....I called my doc to see him monday about switching to a different benzo. This has been such a big waste of my time and a hassle for everyone.
Energizerhoney
Huge difference for me taking brand name Klonopin. It had nothing to do with tolerance, I just find the brand name superior to any generic I've tried. I'm able to take less of the brand name than generic. The only issue is the company that originally made Klonopin was bought out by another company and right now they are not making the brand name. I contacted them and they said they will "hopefully" resume brand name production again starting in October. So I'm nervous a bit they won't manufacturer it anymore. Thankfully I still have about 80 1mg brand pills available. Mylan has to be the worse klonopin generic I've ever had, total crap.

Energizerhoney
I wanted to add also, that you can ask your pharmacy to order a specific generic for you. I get my meds at CVS and Walgreens. For generic I prefer Teva (it's pretty good for a generic I think) and they order it for me, no extra cost or anything. So that may hopefully be an option for you until they, hopefully, resume the brand name.

jt07
I never noticed a difference between name brand and generic with benzos. I did notice a difference with lamotrigine and Ritalin though.

sonicwhite
I didn't notice in the first or second pill but I started to notice how well Name Brand Klonopin treats my anxiety.....I was like this is how a benzo supposed to work......It makes me very tired which I haven't come up with a good plan to break them in four's since there is a K punched out in the middle. Gearhead
http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/apex-ultra-pill-splitter/ID=prod6155225-product I use a pill cutter to cut up my Seroquel IR, and with practice I can now reduce a 100 mg pill to even 12.5 mg sections. The trick it to chop hard and fast-if you press slowly, the pill will just crumble.
WinterRosie
Hey Sonic. I merged your two posts about this med. That way you can more easily keep track in the future
sonicwhite
Instead of twice daily it seems I can take this once. Don't know if that will be the case all the time but I need to cut back on these anyways.
