sonicwhite
Just curious.......Because they have said I have SZA BP type to SZA Schizo type and just BP I and MDD......So here lies the confusion. Is what I'm feeling normal? Is this happiness that leaves me no desire to use drugs and goof off on meds.....Is this what having no depression supposed to feel like or am I going into somewhat a hypomanic state. For the first time in years I feel the urge to go out. To go to church to interact with ppl. It is like the light was turned on and i could see again. Now I know no one here can tell me what's what but should I just be content and enjoy the benefits of Paxil?
shesellsseashells
Not all ADs make all bipolar people manic. For me it was a matter of hitting on the right dose of Lamictal to see the benefits of my AD. When my Lamictal dose was lower Prozac made me hypomanic and I experienced mixed states. Some people experience mania despite being on a mood stabilizer and others aren't negatively affected by ADs at all. That's fantastic that you're feeling so well! I understand just what you mean about the light switch going on. I think you're smart to be vigilant and keep an eye out for manic/mixed symptoms just in case. dancesintherain
agreed that not all ADs make bipolar people manic. My main AD right now is wellbutrin, but the abilify balances it out for me so that the combo of the two of them work. I don't think I could take just an AD, but who knows...no need to try since I've found a combo that works.
melissaw72
AD's do not make me manic. I've never had a problem with them.
AnnaBanana
AD's didn't make me manic/hypomanic either. They simply did nothing. No effects whatsoever.
jt07
For the first time in years I feel the urge to go out. To go to church to interact with ppl. Sonic, to me, it just sounds like the AD is working. While it's good to be vigilant, at this point I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. If it gets out of hand or if you are very concerned about it, then by all means call your doctor.
katie.goodair
AD's didn't make me manic, they even helped, just not hugely. It wasn't until I was put on abilify that i noticed a massive difference, and the two together have really helped me.
SoaringRaven
I've never had an issue with my antidepressants triggering mania/hypomania. They've always helped me more than hurt me (spare when I first started on them, ten my side effects were awful because my dose was wrong. But it didn't trigger mania/hypomania.)
