Hello.

I just left my pdoc and she prescribed me Prolixin 5mg for my visual hallucinations.  I have done some research on it but only found minimal discussions about it.  I was wondering if anyone on here has had experience with this medication.  Please help!

Thanks

I was on prolixin for a short amount of time.  The pills didn't help me, but the prolixin shot did.  Really helped get rid of the voices.  The only thing I didn't like about the shot was that it really made me tired, and it stayed in my system for 2 weeks, whereas if it had been a pill I could have stopped them and it would have been out of my system sooner.

If the shot hadn't made me as tired I would have tried it longer.  But after the 2 round of the shot I couldn't tolerate it sitting in me for 2 weeks without any way of lowering the amount other than waiting it out.

I take 5mg prolixin for auditory hallucinations. When I first started taking it I couldn't stay awake until mid day. That was at 10mg. I would assume it is sedating because of that. I take so many other sedating meds at night I don't know one is contributing to it.

Did the Prolixin pills make you sleepy at all? I am hoping it will be a little sedating so I can actually sleep.

No, they really had no effect on me.

ETA:  the pills had no effect.  The shot did, and made me lethargic and at first couldn't think straight.  But it wears off.
