Is anyone here on Latuda? And if so, have you noticed an increase of... erm... oils? Like, I get more acne (everywhere!!), and my hair is more oily. It looks stringy and disgusting. I know it's not life threatening, but it definitely doesn't make me feel good. And I've tried switching shampoos, washing my hair more often, washing my skin more often, but it's not helping... If you look in my signature, I am running out of med options, and this one at least controls the bad hallucinations, so I don't really want to go off of it.

Wash less often.

When your skin and hair is super oily, it's typically a sign of dehydration. Your hair and skin overproduces oils to compensate. Try washing just every other day, and use lukewarm water instead of hot. Hot water dehydrates skin. Moisturize your face after every time water touches it.

Larkspur, I feel the need to always shower. One of my thought issues is that everyone in the world but me has bed bugs (sometimes I feel even I have them), and I have to shower upon returning home to get rid of them. I also don't drink enough water. I sweat like crazy as well. My face is always dripping in sweat. Sorry if that's TMI.... Lol

I have very oily scalp because of my psoriasis... i have a lot of sebum cuz of my psoriasis.. so the sebum gets attached to my scalp and causes sores. I have had a dermatologist tell me when your body is under some form of stress (usually infection)... psoriasis increase so then sebum increase. What i learned dealing with my very oily hair is to use a shampoo that strips all the oil off my hair...never use conditioner.. then add oil to my hair.

"flare up"

wash everyday with a oil stripping shampoo and put oil on hair

no flare up... wash every other day.

I notice conditioners will only add to built up of oil. So i never use to them and just put in hair oil or leave in conditioners...and i place it away from my scalp because i know my scalp will produce more oils by tomorrow. But, i have psoriasis... so my oilness might be more extreme than yours. This is just my way of dealing with it. How you deal with it probably depends on your hair type and thickness.

I know psoriasis is not exactly what you are dealing with. I am just talking on the oily end of my condition.

I noticed my face and hair got a bit more oily when I began taking certain meds as well, so I've done some experimenting. I'm sort of going to echo Lark's advice, though...

I've noticed that it's best to keep my hair dry and wash it only when necessary, and my face breaks out way less if I don't use any soap on it (unless it's visibly dirty). I also use head and shoulders shampoo. It's supposed to be for dandruff, but seems to help with oil, too.

Thanks for the replies, guys! I don't think I can go without showering or washing my hair. I already use Head and Shoulders. Hm... This may be the end of Latuda for me.. I can't stand the oily look and I'm starting school, which will just make me self conscious.
