Does Wellbutrin make any of you tired?

Recommended Posts

I know that if anything it's supposed to give you energy, to the point that some people get nervous, panicked, etc. I always assumed it helped with my energy (and oy, I need the help.) I've been on it for years. But I forgot to take it yesterday morning and I actually felt decent. I didn't spend half the day forcing myself to stay awake at my desk like I always do.

Maybe it was just a freak occurrence. But I thought I'd ask if anyone else experienced tiredness on Wellbutrin?

I've also been on Wellbutrin for years and have missed a day here and there.  I don't remember any particular side effect from missing a day except anxiety about missing a day.

Yes, wellbutrin does make me sleepy.  I am on 300mg XL -- i assume you are on extended release too? I did not have this crazy sleep crash when i took SR.

I take it nightly right before i go to bed. Like RIGHT before: i'm lying down, and about to turn off the lights. If i take it too early or when I'm watching tv and about to go to bed -- forget it, i wont brush my teeth, lock the doors, change clothes for bed, etc. i will just collapse on top of the duvet, with bra and shoes on... or worse, on the couch with lights and music blazing and not make it to the bed.

Then...it wears off right before morning, and i feel fucking fantastic and jump out of bed with enthusiasm.

Can you try taking it at night right before sleep?

I did this too but after a month it did not work anymore. The wellbutrin was so activating I couldn't sleep.

Even Lexapro I took at night. At first it worked.  But then the med settled down in my system. I now take both in the morning.

My chemistry is so sensitive both Wellbutrin and Lexapro really knocked me all over the place but all the side effects pretty much left.

I no longer take Wellbutrin, but when I did, I used to take my "afternoon" dose right before bed (I took SR) and slept perfectly. I never did feel energized by Wellbutrin. But then it also didn't work for me as an antidepressant either. I actually took it at 3 different points in my life. On paper it looks perfect for me, but it just didn't affect me in any good way.
