Weird Wellbutrin Side Effect

Recommended Posts

I started Wellbutrin about 3 weeks ago and am on 300 mgs.  Ever since I started, I am SO DAMN HOT ALL THE TIME!  I feel like I'm going through menopause.  I sweat and sweat, and even get nauseous from being so hot.  Is this normal?  Has this happened to anyone else?  Help please!

it does make a lot of people sweat.  for some it goes away (it did for me) for some it doesn't (one friend just sweat the whole 2 years she was on it, but she eventually got used to it and said it was an ok side effect for her given how much it helped her.)

give it a while, it may go away.

if it is bothering you a lot, you may want to ask your doctor to try a lower dosage for a bit, and work your way up to 300mg.  slow tapers can sometimes make all the difference in terms of side effects.

Hey B,

I can't help you with the Wellbutrin, but I can tell you that I have been hot a lot on the Cymbalta.  It drives me nuts.  I'll be working around the house and keep taking off clothes till I'm down to a T-shirt (and it's about 17 degrees and windy outside).  I'm hot at work and at at night when I'm sleeping.  I know I've been hot while a sleeping ever since I've had kids, but this is worse since I started meds.  I cannot even stand it if the furnace comes on while I'm getting ready for work in the am.

Good luck!

Yeah I'm not sure which one it is.  I was having the hot flashes while I was just on Cymbalta.  That seemed to go away.  When I upped my WB to 300mg I think thats when I started having them again.  It still could be the Cymbalta and the increase in WB started it back up again.  Its like you never know whats actually going on inside.  I know that when I was from my car to the elevator at work and get upstairs to my floor I'm hot as hell.  I have to turn the fan on.

For me, it's menopause+wellbutrin+zoloft. I am one hot mama. The overheating and sweaty side effects have diminished somewhat over 10 months, but I still can't be in a stuffy room with no air flow. I get sweaty, twitchy and claustrophobic. Not fun.
