SonOfAdam
Hi, I was diagnosed about 10 years ago with bipolar disorder with psychotic features. I stopped taking my meds after a few years and the symptoms have gradually returned. I have an appointment next week with a psychiatrist because I've been having suicidal ideations. The paranoia has been back for quite some time. I think I am schizoaffective (as was my mother and my son). I am scared to death that my career and life is going to be over if my job finds out about this. I am a nurse and handle very lethal medications. I hope I can keep it together until then. Thanks for letting me unload this
olga
Welcome to Crazyboards. I think that many of our members share your fear in terms of employers finding out about the diagnosis. It's very frustrating that getting treatment for an illness has to be a big secret, but you have to do what is necessary to not sabotage your career. Let us know if we can help you with anything. olga
