I didn't see that's what the OP was asking about, quiet.


They were asking about something that doesn't depress central nervous system functions like respiration.


I was paying attention to this recently because I traveled to visit someone "at altitude" and got a pretty nasty case of altitude sickness for a couple of days. Recommendations from the Institute for Altitude Medicine is to not take benzos if you are having trouble with altitude related symptoms because benzos depress respiration rates and therefore decrease oxygenation... so benzos are working at cross purposes with one's body until the body adjusts to the altitude.
