Tremors

I am finally on a stable cocktail.  Took about 7 months to get here.  Now I have developed a tremor in my right hand.  Its annoying and something I try to hide at work. I am right handed as well. 

 

My meds are below.  Has anyone else developed a tremor?  Could you figure out which med caused it?

Did it go away after a while?  

 

If I am okay with the tremor is it safe?

 

I will pose all these questions to my Pdoc of course.  But nothing like hearing from others that actually deal with it.

Have you tried propranolol?  That med worked great for me and got rid of the tremors 100%.  The only reason I had to go off of it was because it was affecting my thyroid.  Otherwise it was a great med.

I have an intermittent tremor in my hands. On bad days, clenching my fists seems to help... but also makes it hard to do anything with my hands  

 

My old gp thought it was from Lamictal. I'm on a higher dose than you, and it was higher still when I asked gdoc about it. My pdoc is unconcerned.

I'm guessing Lamictal, too. I had a tremor, but at first, my depakote tremor was worse. Then they combined, and it became infuriating. Now that I'm off the depakote, my tremor is rare.

I second the use of a beta blocker to control tremors. I take metropolol twice a day.

I wouldn't rule out the Wellbutrin ... I believe it caused some tremors for me. I don't get tremors from Lamictal. Your pdoc would be better equipped to tease out which med is causing what.

Yeah, definitely a good pdoc question. I get an intermittent tremor (not bad, but noticeable) and it was before I started the lithium, so my neurologist was fairly sure that it was the wellbutrinXL at 300 mg that was doing it.

 

Things can be done to stay on the meds. If it only is a mild annoyance, I don't think there's anything particularly troublesome.

Oh, I forgot about lithium! I sometimes have a gross tremor from that (as opposed to a fine tremor, which isn't as jerky). But it never lasts more than an hour. I don't know how typical that is, though.

I have tremors and tried some Primidone I got from my neurologist. It seemed promising, however it made me irritable, moody, hungover, and downright unpleasant. I couldn't stick with it.  You could try it though!!!

Also, the neuro said Klonopin may do the trick as well.

I had hand tremors when I was on Latuda for a month.  It was so frustrating as I do fine crafts, with my hands.

 

I would would ask your pd if there's something you could take, to help with it.

My hands are always shaking, have been for years. I was on Propranolol for about 4 years, it helped, but gave me GI problems. I am on Phenobarbital now and it works well.

I went and saw a neurologist to see if he could help with my tremors and severe headaches. He suggested Fentanyl for my headaches and suggested I try either Phenobarbitone or Lyrica for my tremors. I chose the Pheno because he said it may help with my anxiety/insomnia/tremors/headaches. I have found that it had no effect on my anxiety and was not sedating at all, but it reduced the tremors in my hands and reduced the frequency of my headaches.

 

It was funny when I went into a psych hospital as none of the nurses have heard it being prescribed in the past 20-30 years.

I started to get hand tremors once my wellbutrin xl dose was upped to 300 mg.  According to my Dr. this can happen to people on higher doses of wellbutrin.

I have a constant tremor, and with all the meds I am on, Idk which one is causing it.  I have it all the time, and no, it has never gone away.

From your meds, (like in above post) wellbutrin could be doing it if your dose is too high.  It can make you jittery if you are on a higher dose than your body can handle.  My pdoc will adjust the level if the tremor gets really bad.

Just know a woman who is on Klonopin and recently (last couple months) developed a hand tremor that is very evident.   At least it is to me.   Alpam.  Of course I don't know you or your doctor.  The ads for Lyrica say it can cause depression and suicidal thoughts.  Maybe you're the exception to this.   Dragonfly Hope you find out what med or meds is causing your tremor.  Good luck to you.

Many, many psychiatric medications raise the risk of suicide when first taken. Many times that is because a person may have a plan, but because of their depression, don't have the energy to carry it out. Then the new medication starts helping their motor depression, but doesn't act on the overall depression as quickly. That means the person is still depressed, but suddenly has the energy to carry out their plan. In fact, starting an antidepressant is often the time of the highest risk for suicidality. But that isn't the case for most people.

So it isn't that it doesn't cause suicidality in some people, but it is a warning that a lot of meds used as antidepressants have to list on their PI sheet.

This looks grammatically funny to me, I'm having a migraine. So I hope I am making sense.
