ghostrx
I'm currently still taking the meds in my signature but I've been wondering what else can I bring up to the doctor to try? I get on average 3-5 hours of sleep a night which is wearing me out during the day and at work and that's why I was given the 50mg of Promethazine to see if it would help but so far nothing the past couple of months. I've cut out all caffeine and stimulating drinks after a certain time and practice good sleep hygiene but nothing has seemed to help. Any ideas? melissaw72
Have you tried any OTC stuff like melatonin or benadryl?
ghostrx
I've tried Melatonin but haven't went down the Benadryl route yet.
Wooster
Any willingness to see if cutting out all caffeine/stimulating drinks makes a difference? Also wondering if you drink alcohol, especially in the evenings because that definitely whacks out sleep structure. While I'm not on the same kind of other meds you are, I've found klonopin to be immensely helpful with improving my quality and length of sleep. ghostrx
I've cut out all caffeine and stimulating drinks after a certain time during the week and only really drink alcohol at the weekends (and never late at night). Also benzo's seem a no-go for my gp so that's out as well.
larkspur
From the information on your signature, it looks like the following might be worth a try: zaleplon - if its available in your country doxepin trazodone amitryptiline haloperidol There's probably others, but that's what immediately comes to mind for me. water
I started using a very small dose of xanax or alprazolam for a sleep aide after ambien caused irritable bowel. I split the 5 mg. pill in half, and now I am going to try the 2.5 mg pill. It works wonderfully for me, without much drowsiness the next day. I use the brand btw, not the generic. What is disturbing your sleep? Is it an inability to fall asleep, or do you wake up after only a few hours? I have found that whatever is happening in my life has a direct effect on my sleep, as much if not more than the medication. Not getting enough sleep is awful. I am sorry. ghostrx
Thanks for the list larkspur It's the inability to fall asleep, then if I do I wake up after only a few hours which is very irritating. Xanax would be benefiting but benzo's seem a no-go with my doc (and it's not really prescribed over here to be honest).
Flash
I used a combo of 15mg Remeron and 12.5mg Ambien CR when I was stuck at three hours a night. Just one or the other did not do anything for me. Neither did Lunesta, Restoril, Seroquel, or Trazodone. Anyway, after a month of Remeron+Ambien CR my sleep pattern "reset" and I didn't need anything other than the occasional dose of Remeron. The best sleep I've gotten was actually on Ritalin, of all things. Solid uninterrupted sleep for 8 hours. So nice! Now I am not taking any of those, but I take 300mg Doxepin as an AD and that helps put me out. Some people use low doses of that for sleep.
